I'm wondering what risks are associated with having a used tampon in your mouth? I can't imagine it being hygenic at ALL, but has anyone had experience with this type of situation? Like, can is it likely to contract a major illness from doing this? If so...what?

I always ate them frozen like a popsicle.

Since a tampon is used for collecting/absorbing the sloughed lining of the uterus, there isn't anything inherently "unhygenic" about it. I would however, establish a timelimit of how long said tampon has been in the body before being put in a mouth.

Since the tampon is seated in a human body, at (dah) body temperature, it is an ideal medium for the growth of bacteria, so the longer it stays in the vagina, the more likelihood of bacterial growth. I have absolutely no evidence, but i would think 15 or 20 minutes would be about the limit of vaginal seating. I would rather err on the side of prudence than not.

Since it has absorbed a bodily fluid it can also carry diseases such as HIV or herpes. The risk of transmission is real if you have cuts in the mouth or any dental problems. Even freshly abraded gums from brushing can be considered an opening in the tissues of the mouth.

Well - yeah. You have the same risk of disease that you do when sucking dick or pussy, or for that matter, french kissing.

Hmm. I'm not sure about safety, but have you considered just drinking the contents of a menstrual cup?

It's environmentally friendly and SO much better in every way.

My plants seem to love them so I'm sure people will as well :-P

You're welcome mist - i work in the medical field so any time you need dieting help, i can probably come up with something really disgusting to put you off your food.[:D][:D][:D]

Well-Im a nurse and logic tells me its about a path for it to get into ur system....so a used tampon into a mouth with lts say -A cut, a canker sore, even the bleeding gums, anything really- PORTAL OF ENTRY!!!
VERY BAD IDEA.....
I had a bf lick his finger with my blood on it once and even tho i knew he was safe it just felt like i had to school him-lol and yet kinda cool at same time-lol- BUT STILL NOT GOOD PRACTICE.

Wouldn't it be easier to compost weeds and newspaper?


and no - animal protein is not good for compost. Thats why you can't or shouldn't compost dog poop.
