I especially loved this phrase

"According to Xinhua news agency more than three million Chinese drink their own urine believing that it is good for their health. "

I guess it sounded more impressive than, more than 0.3% of all Chinese drink their own urine...

The article is bullshit which has been disproved over and over again. But let's see a photo of their teeth! Urine does amazing things to teeth: whitens them as it sears away the enamel, until they become blackened stumps.
And let's ask their wives about how good their breath smells. Uremia smells like DEATH.

The occasional use for watersports is recreational. More is not healthy.

Remember, kiddikins, anyone can write anything on the interwebz and make it sound alllllll scientifical. Instead of performing arts they should be teaching critical thought in high school. Critical thought and multiple orgasms, which are much more practical performing arts. Yep.

Tan,  how long have you studied the science of it?

if there were a benefit- describe it - and its limitations.

I could not even eat spinach as a kid, so I don't think I could hack urine therapy.

Well, I guess some would be willing to try anything to lose weight. Not this water baby. I'ma gonna stick to the more tried and true and don't always work methods.

I would have to read this when I'm drinking soda and eating a slice of pizza.

I read the article, put it as an icon on my desktop to check into all those possible click spots later.  I am curious about that chemical taken from urine to help kill cancer.

And I have to make a comment here...if I ever went to the doctor mentioned in that article who had the patient hand over pee for testing...but really tricked his patients and used it to make a flavored "medicine" drink...I'd kick him in the nuts so hard they'd get lodged in his throat.

I have this weird thing about consent.  If some medical person even plans to jab me with a needle, I expect to be told first.

My father thought something was very amusing when I was a kid and I've never gotten past that.  We all lifted weights and did exercizes and swam, so he had us chew up some malted pills, and then we'd chew up some ucky ones he called brewers yeast.  One day it was all caked up around my teeth and gums like peanut butter, and my darling father asks me do I know how they make that stuff.  I shook my head no, and he proceeded to tell me in horribly disgusting detail about how they have these casks they ferment beer in, empty that out and bottle it, and then some naaaasty disgusting sludge was stuck in the corners and to the sides and had to be scraaaaaaped off.  Since they didn't want to waste it, they pressed it into pills and that's what I had in my mouth.

I can't drink beer to this day.

And if I can't drink beer, I can't drink THIS, so if I'm ever dying from cancer and this is the cure, it had better be in the carefully sanitized form of dozens of concentrated caplets with some mysterious scientific name attached.

The person who wrote the article, Abhishek Thakore, has no idea how the human body works. I am shocked the publication that printed his article didn't catch how many things are incorrect.

Yah know, somewhere there is someone who will believe anything. And just because it is an old therapy doesn't mean it is good. By that scale, trephening and blood letting would still be curing possession, insanity and fevers. The numbers of people believing in something isn't much of an endorsement either.

So...the kidneys filter out the toxins/waste products and it is eliminated in urine, but Abhishek Thakore thinks putting it back for a second chance is actually healthy.

Actually, he says other organs like the liver flush toxins. I just wonder how he thinks the liver gets rid of the toxins if not through the kidneys? I guess fairies take it all away?

Well, if you're caught on a desert island, it is better to drink urine than sea water. About the only time when drinking urine could be healthy (although, how would you produce urine without something to drink in the beginning). Thank you "Why men have nipples" for this interesting piece of information...
