For the most part it's mild and I am used to it, but there have been 3 or 4 times when the pain was so excruciating that I literally wanted to die. I was able to get to the ER one of these times, and was told it was gas, although I got no explanation as to what may have caused it's onset. I recently discovered that coffee may be one thing that causes an upset. Although I frequently drink coffee and most of the time I am fine, I think I will refrain from drinking it from now on, which sucks because I love the stuff. I found that eating more actually helps to relieve the pain, I guess because it absorbs the acid. I'm going to stop talking about this now because it's making my belly hurt haha.
I had this, and for as long time, i had a bunch of terrible tests, and the final diagnosis was peptic ulcer syndrome, and 4 months of zantac, prescription strength, did the trick, i did cut way back on the coffee, but still have my one good cup in the morning.. and many small meals help, an empty stomach was not fun for me. I still get flair ups now and then, but easily controlable.
