I love the way you far left howlers go completely bonkers with all your weak, pathetic insults when you can't get your way in an argument, which is most of the time.

You rang?

Yes, I agree; it was the rent free apartment given to Rahm that directly led to the explosion and leak. I am sure Beck can diagram that connection on a blackboard for the rest of the howlers.

In point of fact, I would assign a small amount of blame on Dick Cheney personally; he DID oversee the slow dismantling of the regulatory apparatus, and he DID grant BP and Halliburton incredible access to government power and leniency.

However, even Cheney didn't force BP to cut corners, or force Halliburton to do shoddy work. There were plenty of fingerprints on this crime, and Cheney's are one of many.

There are plenty of reasons why Dick Cheney should be swinging from a rope*, but this is small entry on a long rap sheet.

* No. This was not hyperbole or rhetorical flourish.

Its purely mental masturbation for you and MM to try to claim that Dick Cheney is responsible for the accident. You're getting off in a circle jerk. Which regulations did he supposedly loosen that caused it? And why did "the buck stops there" Obama fail to correct these imaginary regulatory changes.

You seem to know a lot more about masturbation and circle jerks than you do about cheney's involvement in the regulatory changes and the presidents ability to act expost facto to cause bp to install a failed blowout preventer.

I'm not claiming it--Salon and the five other links are doing so, with the evidence.

Did you read the article? You're just asking for a repeat here.

And sure, he's not the sole cause. He just helped set the stage--making it possible.

Imaginary regulatory changes? Are there no newspapers where you live?

Fair question.
What any Chief Executive does- the CEO of a business, a mayor, a governor, or President- is create a culture. The CEO sets the tone, appoints the people who appoint the people. He decides what is important, what is enforced and what is let go.

Dick Cheney was the CEO of the Bush Administrations oil and energy policies.

The Bush Administration appointed heads of MMS who were explicitly intent on treating oil companies as customers to be served, rather than entities to be overseen and regulated.

This contributed to the atmosphere in which BP knew that compliance with regulations was largely voluntary, and there really was no price to be paid for shirking responsibility.

Dick Cheney was the CEO of Halliburton; During the many scandals of Halliburton in government contracting, the consistent theme was that no matter what sort of crimes or fraud Halliburton committed, it would never, ever be put out of business, or called to account.

So when Halliburton and BP collaborated they worked in an environment without consequences or accountability.

Like I said, not all of this can be laid at Cheney's feet; there were plenty of people involved in this, a lot of CEOs and decisionmakers who bear the blame.

But he contributed.

p.s. I would be happy to review his crimes for which he should be hanged as a war criminal. But maybe in another thread.

Speaking of masterbation, you really should get out more, Thomas. Go get your dick sucked or something. Your frustration is palpable. I recall about a month ago you were whining because Obama wanted to correct the deregulation failures of the financial industry that led to the economic meltdown. As I recall, you were upset because you didn't understand why he " all of a sudden felt the need for tighter regulation." He was craming it down our throat, remember?

You are such a partisan hack. You will never be satisfied with Obama no matter what he does. Sometimes I think you take the contrary position out of spite.

Got anything from a real news source?

And you're still pretending that Bush was president when this happened, and ignoring  the fact that Obama took huge wads of campaign cash from BP and that his chief of staff was in bed with BP.

You've got your head way up your ass on this one, until you're ready to slap Obamas whorish mouth into next week and tell us loud and clear what a dirty little slut he is you don't have an ounce of credibility here.

Do even you have any clue what you're talking about?

The Wall St. Journal doesn't do it for you?

Google "Cheney responsible for oil spill" and take your pick.

Not interested in the article? Don't read it.

And learn to distinguish between causal relations and those that coincide.

But to contribute anything worthwhile to this thread, you'll have to address the merits of the points reported.

Google it yourself, its your thread - provides us with the evidence. Dick Cheney isn't even mentioned in that Wall Street Journal article, and guess what? No one in the Obama administration or the Clinton administration required acoustical switches either, and no one can say that would have prevented the blowout.

Its a hell of a stretch for you or anyone else to use an article like that one to lay this all at the former vice presidents feet.

Its literally a form of madness, they call it Bush Derangement Syndrome.

Who is the president? Where does the buck stop?

Don't you think that the mountains of cash that BP gave to Obama and the fact that Obamas chief of staff was a BP lobbyist may have "contributed to" such an atmosphere?

He threw those poor soldiers under the bus, with jail, disgrace and dishonorable discharges etc, to cover his fat coward ass after Abu Ghraib.

And still defends his tortures to this day.

He`s remarkably silent about this disaster, tho.

During the 2008 election cycle, 77% of the industry’s $35.6 million in contributions went to Republicans, and in the 2008 presidential contest, Republican candidate Sen. John McCain received more than twice as much money from the oil and gas industries as Obama: McCain collected $2.4 million; Obama, $898,000

Obama received $2,913,709 from Lawyers/Law Firms.
Oil and gas donations of which BP was one of many, were down in 31st place with $87,750, of which $77,051 came from BP thruout all his cycles
