Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout and Palo Santo Maron from Dogfish Head. Hell, even the credits at the end of the flick are hilarious, now. [sm=chug.gif]

I had never heard of the Grand Mufti, either, HK, so what I did was, I used something called Google to look him up. Lo and behold!!! All sorts of information. Seems a lot of this was brought out at something called the Nuremberg Trials, which I guess was sorta a big deal back when. Google, it's what's for information. [:D]

Shame you didnt have the brains to do this re the original Cordoba Mosque then. If you had done, or even read the points made by myself and other, you would see it wasnt built as a "victory Mosque"

This just about sums it up for so many

Tenebrax -> RE: His Muslim faith (8/29/2010 12:04:08 PM)

Okay then.

So he drinks beer.
He eats pork.
He doesn't observe the Ramadan fast.
He worships in a Christian church.
He had his children baptized in... a Christian church.

BARACK OBAMA! WORST MUSLIM EVAR!!!!

Seriously, if he were a Muslim, he'd have damned his immortal souls several thousand times over. And for what? Being able to pass as a Christian? Aaaand where's the pay-off? What possible reason would a devout Muslim have to damn himself in order to pass as a Christian? Oh, I know! Maybe he could avenge Richard Francis Burton's trespass into Mecca by walking into the Vatican under a false flag!

...okay, I realize that's ridiculous. But then again, this whole thread is an exercise in reducto ad absurdum.

FR-

I love this quote from Coulter on the subject:

quote:

And there's a lot more evidence that Obama's a Muslim than Republicans are racists. Let's compare:

Evidence for the Proposition That Obama's a Muslim: His father was a Muslim; his mother, an atheist, married two Muslims; he attended a Muslim school in Indonesia from age 6 to 10; and, during the campaign, he proudly posted on his webpage his statement that America is "no longer" a Christian nation, a statement he has repeated as president, while announcing on French TV that America is "one of the largest Muslim countries in the world."

Evidence for the Proposition That Republicans Are Racist: (Nothing so far.)

Note that shes not suggesting that Obama IS Muslim, shes just pointing out that theres more evidence to suggest that eh is than there is saying Republicans are racists, which is a distinction that I am sure many will miss even after having it pointed out so clearly for them.

Louve00 -> RE: His Muslim faith (8/30/2010 12:57:50 PM)

Funny, I heard Obama in an interview with Brian Williams about all "he's a Muslim" hype.  His response was that some people would love nothing more than for him to wear his Birth Certificate pasted to his forehead and to waste time fighting over his religious beliefs.  Obama said he had no intention of being side-tracked that way and doubted Americans would want him sidetracked like that.  But I guess some Americans would rather have our president insisting he's a legitimate American (as if America has ever had an illegitimate president) than dealing with the issues he has at hand.  I kind of agree with his rationale.

Actually he loves the birther/Muslim nonsense, since its so easy to ridicule their proponents and it deflects from discussion of his dismal performance.

Louve00 -> RE: His Muslim faith (8/30/2010 2:33:11 PM)

If you say so willbe.  I found his logic to be spot on, myself.  And I find the accusations (or maybe I should say the believers of the accusors) going a bit over the edge.  But thats just coming from this little left winger.  [8|]

And I would like to add you may see it as deflecting.  I see it as a dismissal. [:)]

Lucylastic -> RE: His Muslim faith (8/30/2010 2:36:17 PM)

weird, cos he did a 22 minute interview and that part of it only took up maybe 2 minutes tops.
he addressed it and moved on...thats all it deserves

Louve00 -> RE: His Muslim faith (8/30/2010 2:37:40 PM)

Yep....like I said...it was more of a dismissal of the rediculous...than addressing anything that had merit.

jlf1961 -> RE: His Muslim faith (8/30/2010 2:48:16 PM)

There was another President who was the target of protests and accusations about his religion. Many said that he would not be a president of the United States but a tool of the church that he belonged to.

Of course that was not the case.

Now we have the right raising questions about President Obama's religion, although the RNC has already gone on record as saying he is a Christian and that has never been in question, at least officially.

More like the Republicans love it.

Two more non-issues to promote fear.
