Missokyst -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/19/2010 2:53:15 PM)

You need to take care of yourself. This could be blood pressure, diabetes, or even something simple like an inner ear infection. When you move, get up slowly. Take a few breaths before moving forward. Go to the doctor as soon as you can. Take notes as to what is happening before you fall.
:(

ShaharThorne -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/19/2010 9:56:52 PM)

No falls today, but I had some trouble while I was working in Lizard's room.  I was sitting going thru some clothes and I had to get up.  My left leg did get up while my right lg was dragging.  Of course I had to use the bunk bed again.

Come to think on it, my right leg was folded while the guys were trying to get me up,  Same in Dallas.  Perhaps a TIA on the left side?

angelikaJ -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/20/2010 3:10:25 AM)

I don't know if that was a TIA or not but it was a red flag to get yourself checked out ASAP.

An issue with TIAs is that sometimes they can be a warning that a stroke may happen in the future. It is the reason why it is  suggested one seek medical attention. Some strokes can be prevented if what is causing the TIA is caught in time.

Shar,
This is not criticism.
I am trying to understand you.

You seem to put off getting medical treatment for a lot of things and I don't know know why that it.
Of course, I don't know you.
I do feel concerned about you though.

wandersalone -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/20/2010 3:19:33 AM)

Shahar I think you said you have an appt on tuesday....are you sure you should wait that long?  Is there an emergency department that you can go to rather than trying to self-diagnose and work out what is wrong while waiting for tuesday?

xxblushesxx -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/20/2010 6:48:18 AM)

HM says that it sounds like akinetic seizure. He said to do a google search on "akinetic seizure emedicine". Especially since it appears to be localized to one side.

This isn't of course, a diagnosis, but I will tell you he's incredibly accurate with most of his guesses. Good luck!

ShaharThorne -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/20/2010 11:47:39 AM)

I have to travel back to my regular doctor on Monday (when I get home at 9:30pm),  I push my dentist appointment to the 2nd (it was for this coming Tuesday).  the Medical community here in Austin thinks that all I want is drugs (it was my former hubby took my meds and sell them underground)  The only time I go to the ER is if I am puking my guts out and I am having an allergic reaction to any thing (usually antibiotics and mood stabilizers) .

Don't forget, I don't drive because of my vision and history of seizures (quite infrequent). I trigger quite easily into an angry position, especially if the person does not see the trees due to the forest,  My mom is my driver and in reality I live in Austin and Mount Pleasant but my doctors are in Mount Pleasant, where I can function right, nothing triggering me off (Now, if they get rid of these maniacs driving like they own the road).

MHMR in Travis County does not meet the time lines with the MAP system,  MHMR gives you a months of pills and to go to the MAP where they arrange the intake in 3 months time...You get what I am getting to..  2 government agencies not communicating together.  Personally, if they have a MAP person or two, getting the paperwork ready in the MHMR building, this would be a good way going.

Sorry about that, its one of my pet peeves about mental health issues.

I am watching myself.  I am taking the stairs one at a time.  Bo help me up after I finished reconnecting the internet.  Everyone is watching out for me.  I am going to ask the driver to set me up front due to the situation.

Now...time to finish up the clothes..

Best wishes to you ~ jewels

xxblushesxx -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/21/2010 9:43:59 AM)

Please let us know what your doctor says.

Termyn8or -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/21/2010 4:18:11 PM)

The need to go to the ER is your call, but I don't like the sound of this. Some people will call an ambulance for a hangnail, others have a stroke and casually stop by three days later (the olman).

Is it one leg that lets you down or are both affected ? If it's both look for a deficiency or pathogen that could be systemwide. Even if it is only one leg, how does the other feel ? Is it strong ? If so this could be the result of an injury, or a pinched nerve or something. If it is in both legs, that is a different story. If a neurological problem it will more likely to be found in the spine. Not a happy prospect to say the least.

No matter what professional care you undergo, always explore, know the problem as fully as possible. Does the problem extend to the hips or is it the knees giving out ? How strong were you before ? These things matter.

Sorry I don't have much help on this, with scanty details and even a bit less knowledge, I only know one thing for sure.

Take the bull by the horns and know yourself, your previous condition. What has changed in your life, all of it. The sawbones wants to write a scrip and send you off. You must analyse this. With any illness or condition, you must cure it, nobody else can. You can get help, but it is only help and in the end you will heal yourself.

Be paying atterntion.

ShaharThorne -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/22/2010 8:04:29 PM)

I did go to the doctor yesterday and he did have an EKG performed there on the spot.. I am to have an MRI and EEG today. I am being put back on the thyroid meds. Still taking the water pill for the edema.

Doctor is thinking I am having some form of seizres. I am worring about it as well (grandma had it and the drug that they used her on was called shots of gold).

A , I know what you mean about everytime I seem to have a new disease or disorder. Most of these things have been discovered by my physical mandated by the Social Security Administration.

At least I am not grumbling about the hot flashes...which is what I am wearing shorts instead of pants...and new purple shirts.

Oh yea...with the weight gain, I have a bigger bosum...my cups are denifty (?) flowing over...I need a corset to maintain the beauties...

Is it still Tuesday? I am off my timing because of the nap I took. The MRI and EEG is Wendesay.

Dam n it I can't spell!

thornhappy -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/22/2010 8:20:46 PM)

FR--

"Drop attacks" can be caused by an Arnold-Chiari Malformation; you'd need to see a neurologist and get an MRI.

DarlingSavage -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/22/2010 9:27:06 PM)

I heard about someone on NPR on The Story, I believe, they had some sort of condition combined with narcolepsy.  Worse, the problem gets worse for him if he overexposes himself to too much POSITIVE emotion, like feeling really happy, or feeling how much he loves his wife or child, or feeling really proud of his child.  He literally has to avoid happy situations cause they can trigger an attack for him.  Hope it's not that.  Go to the doctor.

LafayetteLady -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/22/2010 11:45:42 PM)

Well I'm glad that you are getting what is done for a proper diagnosis. Like everyone else, my prayers are with you and please update us and let us know how you are doing.

wandersalone -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/23/2010 3:58:55 AM)

glad you saw the doctor Shahar, keep us updated and be careful

wear a hat..the EEG involved a head full of gel that does not look pretty (i had one right after my accident).

Shar...did your grandmother have Epilepsy? Even if you do not know, mention it. Epilepsy was (and is) so misunderstood, especially in your Grandmothers days. It was thought to be only GrandMal seizures which caused the tongue to be bitten in half while peeing yourself. So false...i have seen Epileptics who just have a distant look for a few moments. The umbrella of Epilepsy is huge.
It can be hereditary or caused by a head trauma( in a different form).  The good news...very treatable with medications.

Now...before i get slammed, i winged this, so take it with a grain of salt.

So glad you are on your way to getting answers. You have courage.

ShaharThorne -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/23/2010 5:05:48 AM)

Espcailly at 2 in the morning..I don't remember why I got up and then falling at the foot of the bed.

ShaharThorne -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/23/2010 12:48:20 PM)

The 2am this morning, I mustve scream oout..mom was there trying to get me up.I remember saying 'Holy shit' as I was hitting the floor.

Did the testing. The guy seating me up reminds me of my dad.

ShaharThorne -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/24/2010 3:46:25 PM)

Got the results. Everything looks okay. I don't know what to do now. Maybe do a sleep study because I am having episodes at nights now.

Just being careful now and see what the doctor says. I will tell him aboout grandmo next time I am with him.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: WTF is happening to me? (6/24/2010 8:29:20 PM)

Sounds like you are just not getting much, diagnosis wise. Neurogist, get to one! I have no personal experience with epilepsy, but definitely share your history.

People don't fall down for no reason. Either change doctors or force them to do more tests. This is NOT something to ignore. If you have to aggressively push them for more testing, go to the supervisors, whatever it takes. Falling down is caused by something and ti's their job to find it.

good luck sweetie.
