Status: offline 		Leave it to California.   They are awaiting approval to begin researching digital license plates.    These will start showing advertisements after the car is idle 4 seconds.   Like we don't have enough commercials or billboards in our lives. 

Of course, they say that in an emergency they would come in handy for traffic reports or amber alerts.   I'm not certain flashing commercials is such a good thing, I thought we banned cell phones and text messaging because people have proven unable to concentrate on driving while multi tasking, this just seems like a bad idea.

Thoughts??

One should be able to focus on hazards-  not learn about the latest widget on sale.

Status: offline 		I had a nice conversation about this today with my Assemblyman's district office. Apparently, I wasn't the only one to call on the subject. Considering what the People's Republic of California is charging me for the privilege of having a license plate, they have a lot of nerve to suggest such a thing. If anybody is going to make money with advertising on my car, it's me.

On the remote chance it should happen though, I'll immediately start selling bumper stickers that say "do not patronize" to go right above it.

That part sounds sooooooooo tempting at first thought.  Unfortunately, it would land Me in the same boat as those who think they can text and drive.  (I promise you that I can't.)

The last thing we need is one more distraction for drivers on the road.  That doesn't just go for CA.  I'd say that's the case just about anywhere.

Status: offline 		notice how they push an idea by hinting that it would lead the country.

it is not all that easy to get a license plate number.  even now that the back ground must be white- they made that law to  make for easier reading.

So that would leave maybe the frame of the plate- even that- scrolling text is not something that is a good idea.
