I believe that at times we focus on the negative aspect of fantasy and forget that some fantasies can be not only rewarding (as a means to work through something in the studio of your own mind) but healthy too because they can allow you to "see" the logical outcomes graphically. Most artists, I know, and especially those who work in the "Fantasy" genre, build up their pictures, images, sculptures or even books in their mind and allow the fantasy aspect to widen their view as to how it may look or read, here too they can experiment and look at other view points until they settle on the one which suits their purposes. I know some jolly good artists who do this and at times are driven to a point where they do need another person to help them touch base and complete a realist check. One airbrush artist, whose works I enjoy is HR Giger the Swiss surrealist. From another perspective, I usually find that fantasies can be divided into two basis categories. Those which can be discussed and even become the bases of some form of controlled enactment, (Such can n ever be accurate because of the interaction of other folks and if you have the situation where people need to speak lines and act gestures you need a good playwright) and there are those which are definitely best left in your head.
