Ah, the mythology of the noble savage as applied by the Spoiled, American Liberal/Communist. DarlingSavage indeed. Of course if DarlingSavage actually lived the life of an Afghani woman instead of ignoring their plight because it didn't fit in with her nostalgia for 1960's peace marches. The Afghan men who'm she idolizes as freedom fighters would have raped her multiple times, while calling her a Western infidel whore and then marched her into a soccer stadium in front of their women and put a 7.62x39 into the back of her head.

Dawg have you thought of getting a new mantra?
Where in the constitution does it say we should be in afghanistan?
You wish to put up a straw man of noble savage and then come kick it down...this has nothing to do with a noble anything and everything to do with corporate amerika at work as usual.
And you are just the pimp for their message.

For that matter. There are reports that Israel handed Obama and the Joint Chiefs the exact whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden two or three weeks before that Gaza Blockade shooting deal...But the report was deliberately buried because the Location was in Northern Iran.

Hows that for the kind of Mission Creep American Liberal/Communists don't want to know about.

Your source for this would be appreciated or is this just more rhetorical doggie doo

In fact, you have a history of putting dictatorial governments in power, not just supporting them. Google "Mohammed Mossadeq".

We've put a stop to a couple as well. Google "Hitler"

Rich, as usual you just side step whats actually been written.

If you think it was only the US that stopped Hitler you are deluded. Ever wondered why it was called WW2

http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/uk/afghan+casualties+uk+payouts+for+civilian+deaths+apostrebleapos/3690482

Compensation claims paid to Afghan civilians for accidental and incidental death or injury by British forces trebled in 2009.

We shall never acheve our objective (whatever it may be) unless we change our strategy to suit the situation and we shall never change our strategy in favour of the unpalatable measures necessary. Therefore we shall either be seeing more dead, mutilated and injured coming home and more dead, mutilated and injured civilians for many more years and then withdraw, or we may withdraw earlier and reduce those instances.

This is not a left/right issue. This is a military/political issue.

If that is the case, then why the hell are we still chasing Osama in Afgarbagecan? Oh wait, we are not. We are just chasing our own tails. The neocons (Rummy) failed to kill Osama when they had him trapped in Tora Bora or Boola Boola or wherever the hell it was.

No one will admit MISSION FAILURE!

Helper, I don't think American Liberals are having orgasms over this war. Put the blame where it belongs ... can you spell n-e-o-c-o-n-s???

I feel it's a pretty damning indictment of America's intelligence services that they can't find a man in his 60s who's dragging a dialysis machine around with him. Small wonder the right would rather believe all sorts of bizarre conspiracy theories instead of accepting that the alphabet soup agencies just aren't competent to find the lad.

Vincent is right though. They did have him cornered at Tora Bora. The guy leading the pursuing unit asked for airborne troops to block off the escape to Pakistan and this was denied. I cant recall his name at present but he is/was special forces.

Cameron hopes to have Britsh troops pulled out within five years, if we cant solve the problem. As he rightly pointed out it has been almost nine years already.

Don't hold your breath: Broon was insisting that we were leaving as soon as Blair stepped down, wasn't he?

Hey we have a history of leaving afghanis swinging in the wind.  We supplied the freedom fighters that fought the Soviet Union and then when the Soviets left, we did nothing to help the government get its act together, why should this be any different.

The US has a history involving itself in wars and then bailing out. Look at Vietnam.

Apart from the psychopathic scumbags who came in from Pakistan fifteen years back, most of the Taliban are said freedom fighters, in fact.
Great, innit?

I think unless there is a victory in Afghanistan, a situation where the Taliban idea is wiped off the face of the earth the west's involvement in the region will never end, as just as soon as the western back is turned those opposed to the west will regroup, restrenghten and retrain for yet more raids on their enemy.

Maybe what would be a better  and more profitable in terms of lives, is finding out just why these people attack us, and whence the reason is discovered make amends, for peace can be had only if the people who oppress take a back step or several.

Ideas are rarely "wiped off the face of the earth" if ever.

Perhaps they attack us because we are the most recent in a long line of Imperialist who are squatting upon their land. I suspect that is in your reasoning. However, make no mistake about the fact that Islam was a militantly proselytizing force turned back in Spain in the 15th Century and at the seige of Vienna in the 17th Century, and that Islam enslaved a million Christians along the Mediterranian coasts as late as the 18th/19th Century. Islam does not have clean hands or pure hearts in the matter of Religious Imperialism. We in the West have forgotten but the Serbians were not so short of memory.
