There are other avenues... but they may take a bit more research.

Try contacting one of the local GLBT groups and see if they have any recommendations as often the professionals who are GLBT friendly are more open to alternate lifestyles and may have some knowledge of bdsm

No problem. However, I have to say that most mental health issues don't really involve your sexuality. Depression is depression, doesn't matter who does the dishes or who is on top. Same for ADHD, bipolar and so on. These are issues involving problems with the brain chemistry. I doubt a competent psychiatrist will ask anything other than if you have a good support system. I'm fairly knowledgeable in mental health issues, and my mailbox is open if you need advice or just an ear.

He has been to a regular psychiatrist and when he was just talking to them he revealed his kinkiness and they told him that they could 'cure' him and since then he is not wanting to get the help he needs because he knows there is nothing wrong with him being kinky.

I have to say that I see a therapist have for yrs. I also see a phychatrist. Neither are "kink friendly" and I have never had an issue disclosing or discussing any issues that come from my relationship dynamics, lifestyle choices ect. The only time they ever interject or breach our confidence if they think i am a danger to myself and then they are obligated to.

I have, course I don't think she was a very good therapist to begin with. She kept insisting though that my interest in bdsm was un healthy and a way for me to be emotionally and sexually abused all over again and not take responcibility for it, and that ageplay was sick, and only qualified professionals should ever attempt re parenting and retraining and changing the emotional tapes sexual abuse as a child left. quote: ORIGINAL: DaddysInkedSlut I have to say that I see a therapist have for yrs.
