Depending on the maker, a corset can also help with some back problems. I know of a few people who were able to get their corsets paid for by their health insurance provider in place of a back brace.

The corsets in question came from Brute Force Leather/Fallen Angel Fashions.

I always put mine on when i'm having back problems, it doesnt just improve my posture it actually helps to stretch my back out, so it carries on helping even after i've taken it off

Though i'd be lying if i said i dont love the look and feel of it too. There is something very sexy about that compressed, breathless feeling

Im a big girl at size 26/28 ..breasts 46DD and I have just bought a corset. I love the feel of it as it is laced tight. I just wish I was a bit smaller in the tummy area!

I am also not a petite gal, either.  I have 42 D breasts but I do love the corset, pushes out my chest and flatters the waist!  I am trying to the lose through diet and exercise.  Some days are good, some days are bad!

heh...

You know..i would figure that these people who run the HMO's would be the exact opposite when it came to corsets. IE: "Bad!..Bad!!"

Hmmm...

Mabye things in health are changing somewhat.

I don't think they are a bad as they say they are...but you definately have to be disciplined day-in-day out to properly wear one.

Those who do....you have my total respect. Honestly..I can;t say i can anymore with the career Iam in at the moment.

I would if I could.

when I bought my corset.  a high end one from a company in england that has been making them for over a 100 years.  I was told to cinch in around the waist but not to tight at first.  comfortable but not straining the corset to much.  then gradually tighten it.  Mostly around the waist at first and not the ribs toomuch at first.  watch my diet and exercise and slowly cinch it tighter day by day.  I was told to wear it for a minimum of 2 hours a day but better 4 hours.  hope this helps.

I used to do tudor re enactment and had to wear a 'pair of bodies' , after 10 years of wearing them nearly evey weekend a corset has no impact on me.  Maybe I need to find a really sexy one and give it another go!

As a related question, does anyone know if it's possible to put on a corset alone? I heard that there is a way, but I don't know if I have the dexterity to lace myself up. For some reason, I've lately felt the need to put on a corset. I wish I knew why, but my strange brain is not the subject here. If anyone knows of a way to lace up on one's own, I'd appreciate any info.

Anyway, I'm a big girl (46DDD), and I found that hipsandcurves.com has a good selection for voluptuous women. Just thought I'd mention that in response to Sunnyday's post.

They have front lacing corsets (http://www.waspcreations.com/frontlc.htm ) that are easier to tie and lace by one person, and also reduce the stomach a bit more than the back lacing ones.

Hiyas,

I have worn corsets for years because I at one point sang professional opera. Think its hard to talk in a corset, try singing! lol.

Depending on the type you use there are different levles of health risks. I have broken ribs, collapsed a lung, and pretty much permanantly bruised many areas of my torso. Thoes things are strapped very tightly on you, and they dont bend, so if you fall, your going down as one long skinny stick, not doing the natural bending of the body we normally do.  Alot of damage comes from that alone.

My figure slimmed from them, but I dont have the extremely small waist and huge freaking hips lol. And I can most definatly go long periods of time without wearing it. But it does make my posture awsome :)
hope this helped in some way!

I had to giggle when I read that, as the same thing happens to me.  Don't you hate that?  I guess I just need to buy a longer one.

phew, not just me then ;0) i think if i got a longer one i would find it difficult to sit down, the ones that come lower over the hips just wouldn't do it.
i thought of control knickers but Master hates them, He just told me to wear a flared skirt or light shirt under the corset to cover up that part.

I don't think I could ever give up my corsets. To me they feel wonderful and incredibly sexy while wearing one, and I get the added benefit of awesome posture. Like a few have posted here it can do wonders for your back. I wear one when I am PMS'ing too, somehow it reduces the cramps and totally negates that lower back pain.
I've never worn them to 'train' my waist, I would be concerned because you really can shift internal organs. Yes I get the tummy pooch too, so I found some corsets that drop lower and that took care of it :D
Like anything new, starting out slowly and doing the research will help.

For cheaper yet good quality "off the rack" corsets try Alter Ego Erotics on Ebay. For custom fit, uber expensive and worth every penny ones try Dark Garden and Stormy Leather in SF, and Versatile Fashions in LA. Also, for different corset styles and such, check out Larry Utley's photo book Undressing the Corset.

Check out www.staylace.com, It has world records, medical advice, proper wear ect.  I have worn a tight corset in the past as ordered by my Mistress and loved it. I was down to a 22" waist then.
