I don't like the idea of there being any kind of score card - IE: you do the dishes, windows, and laundry and I'll play with you for x number of minutes is just plan silly to me. What I do get off on, however, is any acknowledgment of my commitment of time and energy to the other person. I tire of "do me" subs because they are a drain. When someone comes along that enjoys the idea of making my life easier (not as a ploy for play), I have gotten immensely turned on by watching them be of service. For me it's the attitude of wanting to please me rather than seeking solely their own pleasure.

So no, not currency for topping. But service as an outward demonstration of devotion? Hell yes. Heck, I even enjoy seeing service as the simple fulfillment of a bottom's need to be useful and busy.

Does it always have to be construed as currency?

Isn't it?.. or can't it be?

-a strong, teasing, fun moment of two opposing wills bartering?

The sub may approach thinking they have it all worked out .. to get what they are looking for..

It is an opportunity perhaps.. to turn it to advantage?

I'm not suggesting every approach be entertained.. or declined. Sheesh.. we all have good days and bad days..

Individually we see things, and individually we deal with things.

I'm not being indifferent to Aakashas point of view, we all have the days where we feel superfluous to a fetish or kink.

how do you turn it to your advantage and make it new again?.. do you try?.. or do you feel tired and annoyed?

could recapturing the newness and excitement.. be the issue?

Personally, the idea of bartering for play is a huge turn-off for me. If I want to play I will find someone who has the same play interests as me, so that the play itself is the reward for both of us. If I'm having to give some sort of service as "payment" for play, then the play isn't going to do it for me simply because I'm going to feel like my Top/Dom(me) is only doing it out of obligation.

Fortunately, I've been very lucky with my play partners (mostly), in that they've simply enjoyed playing for the sake of playing. Which suits both of us just fine.
