I never said they can't post here, clearly they can. I certainly never said a woman can't be in charge or a dominant. I'm just saying by traditional definition, a man in a master, a woman a mistress, just as for example a female who serves food in a restaurant is a waitress, a man a waiter, although now 'Server' seems to be taking over as the common expression, a genderless alternative to the gendered words.

You are trying to use a traditional definition to an alternative lifestyle.

Since you are in CA, are you willing to walk into the next MAsT meeting closest to you to tell the Masters there that happen to be female that they are not Masters due to their gender?  Are you willing to do the same for those who identify as slaves that they can not use the term because slavery has been abolished?

Also, I will say I attend a munch fairly regularly here, I know, it's just a munch, but I have never, not once, heard a female dominant refer to herself as a master in real life.

Oh! I wanna help!

That could be, although since your using an online name for this individual that's not real life.

So since we ALL use online names for ourselves are you saying that none of us are real or that we do not live our roles in real life?

Direct quote from "Protocol Handbook for the Leather Slave:  Theory and Practice", by Robert J. Rubel, PhD, page 22:

Distinction between Master as an adjective and Master as a noun.

Master (adj): a Leatherman who has earned such respect  within the Community that other senior Leathermen refer to this person as a Master (regardless of gender).  This respect is generally  granted after years of selfless contribution to the Leather Community as a whole.  This is an earned title that is usually granted in a public ceremony.

Master (n):  Man or woman who seeks to exert total control over another.

As I said earlier in the thread, I qualify.

That's great, and if this were a LEATHER site, that might matter.

The site is made up of members, some of whom belong to the Leather community.

We have Goreans here and people who maintain Victorian households.

There are many highly respected "Leather" members here.

edit: grammar

And does this 'high respect' means the leather members definitions over ride all others? I should think not.

However, since you have difficulty with my polite attempt to convey that point, let me be clear about this one: it is very rude to come in and create a disruption for apparently no other purpose than to argue for the sake of arguing.

It's very rude to curse at people for posting an opinion, which is what I've got a lot of in just one thread. I've seen almost nothing but rude posts to most of the people who post questions on here. Yet I don't see you chastising the people who are rude to others on this site, or the ones that have been rude to me, so don't talk to me about rudeness; if this and other bdsm sides are any indication, rudeness is a cornerstone of this lifestyle or at least the online portion.

The slavery angle is irrelevant and silly, but tell you what find the closes MAsT meeting (whatever that is) in my area, let me know where it is, and yes, I'll agrue that in person, and let you know how it turns out.

And with this.... you become the first person I have placed on Hide.

As no opinion you could ever have will ever matter to me or anyone I care to know.

Have fun with your Bullshit.

Oh I agree there are many who dont live the lifestyle or who aren't what they claim to be on this site. Or any other online venue weather it be fetlife, tagged, myspace, adultfriendfinder, ect. However, there are many people on this site who are who and what they claim to be.

I would also venture to say that if your argument here is any resemblence to who you are in real life that is rather sad and pathetic IMO.

1) I did not curse at you...and actually many of the people who answered you here did not either.
2) You might want to consider the possibility that another common element could be responsible for your unpleasant experiences:
You do not come across in a pleasant manner.

I can more than confirm that I am.  I have no problem providing references both on a personal level as well as verify the groups I've belonged to and the presentations I've done.  The next one happens to be Bakersfield in August.  It's an oldie, but a goodie...... Fun With Wax.

How did you determine what *many* of the people on this site are or are not doing? Have you spoken to many of them? Many is a relative term in any event. What % of collarme accounts constitutes *many* to you? Maybe your *many* is equal to my *very few*. Have you questioned whether or not they live as they claim to live? Have you actually met *any* of them at all as opposed to the *many* for whom you are speaking? You have been on the site for only a few weeks, have less than a few handfuls of posts so lack the credibility or longevity on *this* site for me to take such a statement with anything but a hefty dose of salt since my experience is significantly different from your own.

Bita - Master of Slavehood and Sadism!

ETA - Just read your profile.. you are seeking someone who is not a poster, so why do you care who posts here at all!

Yourscum, what exactly is your point here?
A woman can't be a master? It's been proven she can.
Women shouldn't post here? The mods say it's perfectly fine.
What exactly are you trying to prove?

I never said they can't post here, clearly they can. I certainly never said a woman can't be in charge or a dominant. I'm just saying by traditional definition, a man in a master, a woman a mistress, just as for example a female who serves food in a restaurant is a waitress, a man a waiter, although now 'Server' seems to be taking over as the common expression, a genderless alternative to the gendered words.

I'm going to assume the issue here is literally just you having a problem with the words, which I get.  I'm a language geek.  Using your "waiter/waitress/server" analogy, let's state generally, Master is male, Mistress is female, but Master is also used as the genderless.  Like me saying I'm gay, which is typically used for the male entity.  I can call myself gay no problem, whereas a male who calls himself lesbian might get a funny look.  The English language, like most others, is set to take the male as standard, like in French and Spanish (and English if your grammar is that perfect) where the plural is masculine if even one male is included in a group.  Therefore, if nothing else, saying "Masters" is easier (especially when typing) than having to say/type Masters and Mistresses.

Not to mention the connotations of "Mistress" in the minds of many.  I imagine plenty of women cringe at the idea of being "the mistress."

I could be wrong, of course, and you could just be a troll.  But, w/e.
