IN THIS ECONOMY, we've all gotta cut corners without killing the fun. Ideas for bondage and general BDSM gear on a budget?

Check out the Frugal Domme. www.frugaldomme.com

frugaldomme.com ROCKS!
If you are crafty at all (or have a sub who is), making floggers, paddles, and other toys really isn't all that difficult. They may not be as 'pretty' as store bought toys with fancy handles and such, but I can guarantee that they are just as effective! LOL

Also, pervertibles are your friends. Take a stroll through your local Dollar Store, Wally World, or Dom (Oops! HOME) Depot with new eyes and you will find all kinds of fun stuff. Clips, clamps, hairbrushes, back scratchers, feather dusters, wooden spoons, spatulas, velvet ties, and all kinds of other toys are there, on the cheap! My fully adjustable spreader bar came from Walmart, tagged as a clothes bar designed for use in a car/ truck ($10). One of my best paddles is a 'pro weight' ping pong paddle, also from Walmart ($6). My nice, fluffy, 5' long velvet ties were supposedly some kind of fashion accessory at the Dollar Store, ($4 for a set of 4). I have made several nifty floggers from Dollar Store bath mats, dowels, and electrical tape  ($2 each).

Once you embrace the pervertible mindset, the only limit is your imagination!

Actually, frugal domme inspired this post :)

Hoping for DIY tips

Speaking of dollar stores, look around for the plastic "craft string".  I've made some of the evilest toys in my collection out of that stuff.

For awhile my local dollar stores had jump ropes with wooden handles. For $1 I got a length of not great but usable rope and 2 toy handles. (I like good rope as much as the next gal, but sometimes you want a bit of disposable rope you can use without caring what happens to it.)

Visiting thrift stores is a good idea as well. Lots of funny little wooden knick knacks can be turned into paddles, cheap furniture can be converted into play furniture, solid belts can be used as they are or turned into shorter straps or cuffs. Braided belts can be unwoven into floggers. I once even got 50 ft of brand new marine rope for $5.

Oh and wherever you get them (Wal-Mart, dollar store or grocery store) there is a lot of fun to be had with bamboo skewers...

I have to say i get wet and Master gets hard every time we drive by Home Depot... The possibilities are endless! Do you know how many different colors of duct tape there are!?!?!? The chains, the ropes, the clamps, the straps, all the wonderful types of tape!

DID I MENTION I LOOOOOOVE TAPE!

DIY stores are perfect, also thrift shops, sports shops (sailing equipment offers great ropes, equestrian stores have great whips and crops for a fraction of the price BDSM suppliers charge)...

A few weekends ago I found the most amazing whips in an antique shop, a fraction of the price they would cost, the shop owner said she bought them at an auction, they were part of an estate...

WallMart's Arts and Crafts and Home departments.
One of the very 1st things I bought for MY BDSM plays was from WM - Spreaders (AKA Car Back Seat Cloth hanging bar) Works well! And since so Much More!

Well, I picked up a lovely set of Bondage cuffs and a collar for 35 dollars on www.pawstar.com

It may be a clothing site, but the cuffs wre definate bondage quality, and the o-ring on them is even welded.

I've gotten a fair amount of (new) gear off eBay for not too much.

MistressRoux,

You may wish to peruse the comments in these two groups. They cover the subject quite extensively. Best of luck.

I agree, pet stores, home depot, fetish events, and others, if it it a multi-day go during the last hours of the last day, good deals to be had then.
if You want leather, try a motorcyle store, other than HD. there is a good one on the east coast
sometimes a adult toy store selling close outs. i have got a a few things that way.

Aside for my love of tape, Master likes clips. Clothespins mainly, the teeny tiny plastic ones feel like you're really going to lose a chunk of skin! The plastic ones generally have little grippers on them and pinch pretty tightly and clothespin zippers are always fun!

Push ups are fun in this, as well as a good tight hug.

nezzibell -> RE: BDSM on a budget (8/5/2010 9:39:41 AM)

My master prefers the wooden clothespins to make zippers...that was fun took an old string to make the pull.... lol and any marine shop has dock line...some of it even is looped on one end to get the binding started 7.99 for 15 feet of some nice rope (soft too)
I think Home Depot is a wonderful place...did you know they even allow you to bring your dogs in and shop with your pet?  I don't know about pony girls tho...hehehee

Probably OK.... as long as you don't leave 'road apples' on the floor. [;)]
