Given the vast distances of space unless we can figure out a way of traveling at light speed or utilizing "worm holes" we won't be doing much space exploration at all.
It's thousands of light years just to get outside of our own galaxy.
That's one hell of a magic carpet ride isn't it?

Yes, we should give it up until we can figure out a way of solving that light speed or worm hole problem or more likely something we aren't even aware of now. Anything short of that and you're just pissing into the ocean.
Even light speed is too limiting! Some galaxies are Millions or Billions of light years away! The scientists tell us that the "universe" is 156 Billion light years accross!
Even going to Mars would take a year or so just to get there and you'd need to take *everything* you needed with you. And the window to get to Mars is only a few weeks out of the year due to it's differant orbit.
It's just not worth the money or time to continue space exploration at this time until those problems are solved and that won't happen until thousands of years yet! The technology that we have now isn't a speck of sand on a mile long beach compared to what is needed.
Human beings today probably couldn't even conceive of the technology needed for space exploration! We'd need to be able to keep a human alive for 1,000 years or more to cover just a fraction of the distance to distant galaxies. And, who would want to spend their whole existance in a space craft?
What our "space program" is doing now isn't even child's play.
What we're doing now really is a waste of time and a waste of money. We need to be headed in a totally differant direction looking for solutions to totally differant problems.

I sure as fuck ain't making excuses for Obama. I'm very disappointed in his apparant inability to see that trying to be "bipartisan" is pissing up a rope.
