It's sad to see the courts intercede when two people came up with their own solution. This report comes from Reuters News London. It doesn't say if this occurred in Iran or London. Interesting that the husband was just "banned" from beating her and not imprisoned. Based on her comments it looks like she'll miss the beatings if they are completely removed from her marriage.

'Beat me once a week' says Iranian woman

22 September 2004

An Iranian woman, beaten every day by her husband, asked a court to tell him only to beat her once a week.

Maryam, the middle-age woman, said she did not want to divorce her husband because she loved him.

"Just tell him to beat me once a week ... Beating is part of his nature and he cannot stop it," Maryam told the court.

The Tehran court found the man guilty and banned him from beating the wife, the paper said.

"If I do not beat her, she will not be scared enough to obey me," the husband said.

She said she loved her husband, and didn't want a divorce. Maybe she will miss it. Right, if a woman went to court in America with a claim like that, he would have been jailed for domestic abuse.

There isn't much information here, but it sounds like she is consenting to being beaten once a week but not in a BDSM sense.

Sorry about that - My fault. Don't think this was the correct message board because although it may be Iranian 'lifestyle', it's not BDSM or Alternative lifestyle. It just came accross my desk in my news blog and I thought it was interesting.

This is NOT the kind of beating I believe any Master / Dom should be administering to any submissive / slave.

I just couldn't believe that all the court did was say "Go and beat no more!" And then his reaction that without a good beating she won't be "scared enough to obey". If he killed her he may be in real trouble - forced to shave his beard??
