RNC Chairman Michael Steele accused of hiding $7.1 million in debt

The Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has been accused by the RNC Treasurer of attempting to hide $7.1 million of debt.

The Washington Times reports that RNC Treasurer Randy Pullen sent a memo to the budget committee members Tuesday accusing Steele and his chief of staff, Michael Leavitt, of "trying to conceal" the debt by "ordering staff not to communicate with the treasurer -- a charge RNC officials deny."

If the allegations are true, it could expose the Republican Party to millions of dollars in fines and even criminal prosecution.

Status: offline 		If the Dems have any clue how to campaign, this should be big.  The Reps need better than "We're not Obama" to win.  They are losing their ability to run against the Dems' economics if they can't even do their own books (and they still have the Bush albatross of irresponsibility around their necks).  Barton just hurt their chances of campaigning against the BP spill response.

Looks like anyone could win against the Dems in November.  Except the GOP...

Rumor has it that Steele is about to replaced by a certain Alaskan.

And I wouldn't worry so much about the chair of the party being the deciding factor in any elections, Steven. The DNC did okay with screamin' Howeird Dean at the helm, so anything goes in that position.

Instead of blowing money at porn/strip clubs tho,it`ll be blowing thousands on clothes and makeup at Neiman and Marcus,Saks 5th Ave and Nordstrom.

Palin as DNC head would be rather distressing on at least two counts.   That would dead end her for a run at the presidency, and goddammit I need that sort of comic relief.  Secondly, at one or another of the contributers meetings at the stripclub they might talk her into doing the duty, and there would be nothing but that on TV for a week and she is so goddam ugly she has to tie a porkchop around her neck to get the dogs to play with her under the porch.

Screamin Howard did it once in a rally as a pres candidate, and forever held his screams hence.  She wont shut the fuck up with her ignorant shit even if you beat her in the face with a goddamn scoop shovel.
