To jump from the threads on how we got our online names, I was wondering how many use their online nicks in kink gatherings.

I think this is the only forum I don't sign my name on, but that's just because I'm lazy, but everywhere else I go by my real name, because I probably won't realise you're talking to me if you call me kiki at a party :)

For those who do use online nicks at parties, clubs and munches, why?

kiki is a cute name but I will use my real name at munches and sometimes I will use my second name at event when I need to have it. I will go by both first and second name for just the hell of it. When I was high school every semester I would use my first name then the following semester I will use my second name. I had the nick name of Clark Kent Superman because I looked so much like Christopher Reeves in the Superman Movie when I was in high school since I wore black rim glasses.

I use my real name too.... however first introductions i'll throw out my online nickname so people can make the connection.

I recall years ago, a munch was held at the the local sports bar. Newbies would wear those "Hello my name is..." tags and at the time my online nick was "saucyboy" Walking around with "saucyboy" on my shirt got some strange stares from the guys watching football at the bar.

Good thing i was out of town :P

I use my real name. If gloria had been available I probably would have used it here too. Not even sure if I checked. I just assumed it was'nt.

I do know of a woman who uses a regular type name online...also at munches. Most people only know her by her online name. I mean, even those close to her offline. Not a clue why she does it. I'll ask her, we're supposed to be getting together for dinner one of these nights.

I use Jules. . .even people who know my real name but are in the lifestyle call me Jules. I get a LOT of presents and such from boys all around the world, and they are addressed to "Goddess Jules" or "Ms Jules". . .my parents think it is funny to see boxes and envelopes addressed to me in that manner when they come to visit, so as an inside joke, then call me Ms Jules.

For example:
I call my mom on the phone. .
"Mom, whatcha having for dinner?"
"Curry"
"I'm coming over in a few"
"Pops. . .our daughter Ms Jules is coming over for dinner"

It makes me laugh every time.

I use Sandy, Master uses Ross. He doesn't have an online name, so that's the only one people know him as. I will mention that I am the Sandy that has the email of EStrict, and get lots of *ooohhh, that's you?*

I go by whatever name people use to yell at me LOL. I normally just use my given name, but sometimes have to "cross reference" myself with a screen name for people who know me that way.

I came into this lifestyle from online and Shoshin was the name I was using, personally it suits me better than my birth name. My grown kids know the name in case they hear it somewhere, they are into the lifestyle too. It is used more than my birth name as all my friends are lifestylers. The only people who used my birth name were at work, my mom, sister and brother. Oh yea, bill collectors & the bank.
I prefer it. I like the meaning of it "Beginner's Mind".

I use my real name everywhere but in public forums online. In fact, everyone I've met here that I interact with off the boards get my pic & my real name very shortly after we start chatting.

The online nick is only to preserve a certain amount of privacy as these forums are searchable and though I'm open and out to my friends, I don't need the hassle from those who I don't want knowing too much about me. It's not a shame thing, it's a vulnerability thing. A Domme like me isn’t all that fond of feeling vulnerable, go figure!

We use our names. Merc is only an on-line name because the real first name is a little too unique. But one direct email and a sense of trust and you'll get it soon enough. Most of our friends are from the lifestyle, and we are very open and comfortable about who we are and how we live.

I use my real first name when I am out and about in the flesh, here Sundew works well for me. Short and to the point. All my D/s friends know me by my real name and can contact me at home. Online, is online, public. Just as I would not advertise (if I were vanilla) sexual preference to the general public, I will not my D/s. Sundew

I use Blackhart, mainly because there are so damn many guys with the first name Mark - at the local munch, our regular bartender's name is Mark - so I use Blackhart to help avoid confusion

I use both.

Among the local groups and such, I go by Ms Sandi. But for the larger events and such I go by UtahGoddess.

I use my real name. I don't consider here2domin8 a name as much as a description. I don't hide who I am from anyone. I have no fear of recourse by anyone for my beliefs and practices. I make no effort to conceal my true self to those around me because to me that is dishonesty.

Hello, I use my real name in public.
It also is way to rare a name to use it on-line.
But I feel comfortable using my real name out
and about at D/s events, where most everyone
I am conversing with is there for the same reason.

I prefer to go by Rain. I was one of many nicknames over the years, including:
shake & velveteen.

Only the truly *special* ones get my real name.

I guess I started to go by the name Rain in the kink scene as a form of protection...as I was just coming "out" and feared co-workers & vanilla friends finding out.

I don't really care who knows now, but I still like my nickname better than my real name.
