I use my 8" chef's knife, sharp as hell (Sharpened at least once a week) and give it nice solid hits.  If you kinda push through, as opposed to hitting and then stopping, it can't spring back. 

Of course, youre safest not eating pickles at all - there could be second hand smoke in them.

Status: offline 		to open a very tight jar..take a knife and stick the tip in top of the jar...that will release the vacum..and it will easily open for you.......

I find a brick, applied directly to the glass, makes taking off the lid unnecessary.

And there are none in the house... but theres a jar of pickle JUICE... so someone ate the last one and didnt even bother taking the jar out of the fridge. how rude.

I used to work in catering (I gather you are in a related indusrty), so I know about knives: safe in a practiced hand -- but I wouldn't recommend the general public blithely toss them around, so to speak... Invictus does have a point however! And it is true, the pickles might harbor uknown and dangerous substances... Better to use them as original cukes for sex play!

I work in hotel management, but am a chef. 

However, I feel if someone can't use the back of a knife to whack a large object, they deserve what's coming to 'em.

Then again this is coming from a guy who used to literally toss them around.

ATTENTION:  back up plan 2 bit the dust, battery had lost it charge....its only been 4 month since I used that battery whats with that?

Plan 3 I have now steathly stolen Da Boss's laptop, I hope the power come on before morning or I will be in big trubble here. He likes his moring time after all.
