I'm an overpaid computer geek who does complex data analysis for a hospital corporation. Lately, I've been thinking of changing my title to "Sits In Meetings All Day Manager".

I'm a unix DB administrator at IBM (just started here about 3 months ago, hence my brief absence) It's not exactly a "powerfull" position, but theres a great deal of stress involved, considering I'm in charge of 3 accounts (Campbells Soup, Pepperidge Farm, and Godiva Chocolate)

I'm not sure I understand... they can monitor what sites I visit while at my workstation... as long as I don't cause an "intimidating atmostphere" (specifically logging in on company time) there's not a whole lot they can do...

Not only that.. but they're VERY compartmentalized... D/b admins dont talk with help desk agents, help desk agents dont talk to sys engineers,  etc etc..

Run my own specialist marketing firm, and deal with some of the worlds biggest companies. I'm anything but the high powered type though

What? Am I really only the second lawyer? I'd always heard male sub lawyers were as common as metal studs on a Pro Domme's outfit.

Many lawyers start in large firms or government, and "serve" years of apprenticeship to powerful seniors who control your time and activities much like a Dominant. If I were honest, I think was always comfortable even outside of my inner kink life in that sort of situation..

But these days I have my own practice with a partner and between half dozen to 15 employees depending on business. They do what I say, and give me what I ask, no questions asked. I try to keep it low key but often without realizing it (I am told)  am authoritarian strike fear in them. So the need to have direction from another, outside of work and immersion in her interests is even stronger. As is the desire to have structure imposed, rules to follow, duties and yes, a clear line of authority. It gives me comfort and provides the structure for my creative abilities and for peace to flow outside the chaos of my business.

Currently?  I work the cash register at various fast food establishments.  Not overly stressful or high powered.  My eventual career?  History Teacher.  Not overly stressful or high powered either.

I read about this slave that lived in a closet.
He had an Asian Mistress who feed him and clothed him, but when he was not working, he was
living in a closet.

To me that was his choice.

I'm in the early stages of an academic career. I'm enthusiastic about my field and fairly hard-working, and I can be firm when necessary, but I wouldn't describe myself as high-powered. I'm never entirely comfortable with authority, even over students, and when working as part of a team my instinct is generally to step back and let others take charge. I think I do a lot of my best work on other people's projects, rather than my own. Left to my own devices, I tend to dither a bit, but I can generally get things done. In a sense, then, the submissive side of my personality comes through even at work. I don't think I'd be too unhappy in a parallel universe where I could spend my office time naked and shackled to my desk, receiving instructions and working out how to implement them, as long as the tasks were intellectually challenging and reasonably close to my own interests.

I wonder if the perception that a lot of male submissives are in high-powered jobs arises because confident, assertive, successful men are more likely to work up the nerve to approach a potential mistress? "Alpha males" would then be over-represented among the men who made contact.

One more geeky computer type checking in.  I'm an information assurance engineer.  Not exactly high power, I suppose, but certainly important to the people I work for.  *Shrug*

"Is it true that many male submissives are in high powered jobs?"

Some may but they should not as it would be stressful. Appropriate jobs for male submissives: massage specialist, beautician, waiter, personal assistant, nanny, all kind of service jobs, janitor, code monkey in computer software industry and so on.

I dont have a high powered job (in fact, I make enough to pay the bills and not go into debt). But it always seems like whatever band Im in, Im the creative genius. I usually write the songs, and book the gigs.

I was a postman. Excuse me postperson. I always liked it when we had a woman for a supervisor. Just worked harder for her for some reason. Now I am retired and never get to work for a woman.

Yup. In my old job (I'm disabled now), I was in charge of a psychiatric unit with 35 patients.I've always been in charge where ever I worked. I've always been elected 'treasurer'. But all a Master has to do is snap his fingers and I'm in heaven.
Go figure.

I'm a software developer. I'm not exactly high powered right now, but I'm also in the early stages of my career. There's a lot of responsibility at times though, and I'll eventually end up managing a dev team.

Brilliant. I'd reckon completely accurate. (And why didn't I think of that?)

In charge of a small office or 3 people.  Considered a leader by my peers in many ways.

Hmmm....
