Without some form of shared communication, which a 'label' can be described to be, it would be difficult to cut to the chase of whether two people might be compatible. It smacks of the ol' vanilla days where you meet someone, then go through whatever process you do to determine whether the person you're with is the slightest bit kinky, much less compatible with you on just THOSE interests. Labels are at least a way of narrowing the field. Let's see..... I'm a man looking for a woman. Well, that narrows the planet down by roughly 50%. Has to identify some way with BDSM. Now that 50% is down to 10% or fewer. Labels can help at least on a macro level. You're right, however in saying that once two people, kinky, find one another, and find happiness they need nothing other than their mutual affections. If they know nothing of labels, they are free to go about their business in any way they like to maintain their happiness. Now, we here on CM (loosely speaking for the collective) with our all-knowing all-discerning understanding of how things are to work, might look at the participants in that relationship and criticize them for not following the appropriate tenets. They aren't doing it 'right' dammit! That sorta what you mean? Jeff
