one question that is generally asked when hypnosis is mentioned is why a Dom relies on it to control a submissive. I am not saying this is the case with you, but be prepared, as it probably will be asked.

Best of luck in your search

Welcome to the boards.

And what Holly said adding what's so interesting about hypnosis when your subject won't even be aware of what's going on?  At least that's my understanding of it, kinda scares me as to what could happen without knowing what was done.  Lots and lots of trust before I'd even let anyone near me to do that.

As someone who has an interest in hypnosis myself, more on the receiving end than being the hypnotist, I have never had a session where I was completely not aware of what was going on, at some level. The only time I actually did become unaware was when I fell asleep; that was a wasted session for not only myself but a waste of time for the hypnotist.

At its core, hypnosis is something that the recipient wants to go through. It's not something that can be forced. The old cliches from movies and television shows make for interesting plot lines but in real life, hypnosis really cannot be forced upon anyone who does not wish it to be.

Ethical hypnotists will explain all of this beforehand, regardless of whether it's for kinky play or for more generic self improvement. Any hypnotist that doesn't take the time to allay the recipient's uneasiness or answer questions should be avoided.

Hypnosis works for me in much the same way that others enjoy physical play. I like the mental aspect of it all but, when the session is over, nothing about me has really changed, other than I got to experience something I enjoy. Hypnosis cannot make you do something that, at your core, you know you would never do. Your subconscious mind, when it receives a hypnotic suggestion to do something that reviles you, will immediately bring you out of trance.

What hypnosis can do, though, is make you face some of those deep dark desires that you might have but have been undecided about whether to go with or not. For those who are afraid of hypnosis, this may be the reason why they are so; they may not be ready to be confronted by desires they have deep down inside. In that respect, having ultimate trust in yourself is probably as important, if not more so, than in having trust for your hypnotist.

Respect hypnosis for what it is... another way to fulfill and explore. There's no need to fear it.

Thanks for the explanation Sappa, explains a lot more about something I didn't understand.  I just find that someone who's looking for "subjects" is in it for himself, and I'd imagine trust would still have to be established.

I've known that you can't make someone do what they never would, but I also know there's so much more to it than that.

There is. Depending upon how far the hypnotist and trusting subject wishes to go, the more involved it can become. It's not much different, though, than those who enjoy a bit of sensory deprivation, asphyxiation, or other similar "edge" scenes. Trust in each other to do their parts and communicate is paramount, but each also has to understand and be versed enough in the technical aspects so as not to cause injury of any kind.

Welcome and please be kind enough to answer a question of mine...
Is it possible to hypnotize a complete stranger with an email?
I've been getting all those "one, two, three... you're my slave" messages lately and besides making me laugh they do nothing else, so I'm just curious if my IQ is too low or there is something I'm not doing right...
Be well and good luck.

From a subject's point of view... no, you generally cannot be hypnotized simply by reading a message that orders you to be. Unless you want to be, in which case, I would advise against that (unless you know and greatly trust the hypnotist who's sending them).

I laugh, too, at those "one... two... three..." messages myself. I have no flippin' idea who is sending them, thus I'm not inclined to even care about who's sending them. As long as I have no desire to know, the words in the message are just that, words. They have no meaning other than the humorous disdain I may give them.

Can it be possible to become entranced with a message? Sure, it's possible, but only because of the trust and value you place in those words, sent by someone you greatly or implicitly trust. This is because in order to be hypnotized, you must want it at some level, thus you probably would put the same level of trust on your hypnotist's written words as you would as if xhe were in the room with you. So yeah, it can be possible.

Words from an unknown stranger? Not.

Well, it might help to actually turn it on so you see something other than your reflection.

(Just kidding, by the way.)
