Your eyes lay there in their shrouds I can't hear their gaze, I can't see your words. I fall in pieces into the sky And watch as your scent spirals down into the abyss. Follow the scent. Down in the depths I can touch your breath, but your lips evade my ears. On the pebbled ground my knees search for purchase, and for your forgiveness. Look for forgiveness. As my hands smell the bare rock, every crevice becomes a secret. And every secret a lie. Ignore every lie. The light finds my blind mouth, and warms my dusty throat. Warmth carries me upon my feet, and caresses my face. And the shrouds are as if they never were. Gone.
