OMG rescue me from teh herding of teh catz!!! [:o] I honestly had NO clue that "tasteful" would be such a hard call. "Would you get up at a munch and say this?" "Would you say this to a stranger?" Duh, IMO. I also admit that in the year that the list has been going, we have had virtually NO problems. The posts from no-profile guys that say "setting up bareback anal gangbang" were pulled, life went on. True story, that. We have had that one several times... [8\|] Anyone on Fet, plz cruise over to my list and read the rules? ("seeking in michigan") There are no limits on fetishes, we are just trying to steer clear of the ones paddling their own douchecanoes. Some days I hate the internets.

They look like pretty good rules to me-maybe add the bit in about 'would your grandma say this if she was into BDSM?' for comedy value? (I'm terribly sorry but I can't remember who said that.) It's better to make rules too strict than too lax, because then you get leeway to play with.

Speaking of tasteful, I am really digging this new word "douchecanoe" and will be adding it to My repertoire of Really Cool Words, like "kumquat".. I have not been back over this whole thread or anything, so I don't know who I may or may not be agreeing with here, but tasteful to Me simply says nice manners, an attractive current photo or three that does not include the usual naughty bits, decent use of spelling and grammar, and unpresumptuous presentation of who I am and what I'm looking for (or in the case of the current incarnation of My profile, a firm, no BS dictation of what I'm not looking for..). Well you cant really define ads as tasteful in the first place, because by definition that's a preference, not a fact. I think a better way to look at it would be to just ask what people like to see on an ad. If you ask what makes a ads "tasteful" your giving people a reason to debate over their various opinions and this distracts from your main goal Sorry if I went too in depth and as for your problem. You can figure out what most people want easily by first asking them what they like in an ad, writing a list of the suggestions you get, then making a poll out of it in a seperate thread. If you just pick out suggestions on your own, your still being bias to your own subconscious preferences, the poll is a more efficient way to pick them out because it appeals to the users desires and ensures few if any votes were made by unsure voters because these are all topics they stated themselves.

I did a final tweak on the rules, and I am DONE. Honestly, the one rule is "no trolling for sex". ~headdesk~ I am just grateful that 99% of the folks on the list have a clue, and the douchecanoe that was stirring the pot went and started his OWN list... which has rules that are essentially the same as mine only with about 90% MORE WORDS. Has NO ONE heard of Strunk & White? [:o]

The problem is not icky personals. Those don't get replies. The problem is fake personals. See Craigslist, where most of the personals are bot-posted ads for porno sites. For that matter, a big fraction of CollarMe listings look fake. They fakes usually start with "I'm new to this", have a sexy female picture, don't say much about what the person is looking for, and have no associated forum posts.

Its your group, you make the rules, you were polite enough to warn more then once. I dont see the problem.... Cum on just dump the silly fuckers. BTW I have noticed on other forums a lot of the time the biggest trolls accuse someone else of trolling first. Pretty logical tactic, right?
