And yet you admitted that there were wars before the oil was found. It stands to reason, if there were wars before it was found, there would still be wars even if it hadn't been found. People would just find something else to fight over.

I think there has to be a distinction made between the US and Europe on this. If there was no oil would the US still be at war with Arab states? No. Would Europe still have issues, Yes!

Although it has to be admitted that America's unconditional support of Israel whatever the hell it does probably doesn't do anything to endear you to the Arabs. I mean hell, a lot of them lost a load of slave labour over that during the late '40s and early '50s, didn't they?

Yes true, but if there was no oil not sure that situation wouldn't be sorted out pretty quickly as well.

Fair point, but I'm not sure that's the case. The presence of Israel is definitely at the heart of a lot of the mess in the middle east, and short of wiping it off the map, there's no easy way to resolve that one.
