Give me two strong arms
To protect myself
Give me so much love
That I forget myself
I need to swing from limb to limb
To relieve this mess I'm in
'Cause when depression starts to
win
I need to be right by your side

Hey little girl is your daddy home
Did he go away and leave you all alone
I got a bad desire
Im on fire

Tell me now baby is he good to you
Can he do to you the things that I do
I can take you higher
Im on fire

Sometimes it's like someone took a knife baby
Edgy and dull and cut a six-inch valley
Through the middle of my soul

At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet
And a freight train running through the
Middle of my head
Only you can cool my desire
Im on fire

The Boss...

Early one mornin' while makin' the rounds
I took a shot of cocaine and shot my woman down
I went right home and I went to bed
I stuck that lovin' forty-four beneath my head.

J R Cash as well as George Thorogood...and I suppose others

*Cocaine Blues*

Ha!

Alvin Lee died today. One of the great white guitarists ever.
In his honor, I'm going home...

Yeah, I caught that, sorry for responding so late in the day.

I lost the album long ago (paid for with hard-earned paper route money), but it contained this gem that I listened to incessantly at the time.

I know that the "Standing at the Crossroads" version by Cream is considered 'the standard,' for good reason, but I had both albums at the time and listened to this version a lot more.

It's the rhythm guitar, the singing, and the drums, that knocked me back.

From the start, you're off your seat even before you knew what happened.

Well, I'm at a loss here, previous post notwithstanding.

The title says "musical clarity," but all the posts here are about 'lyrical clarity.'

I get the feeling that genius modulations would not make for the best discussion, here.

Debussy said 'screw it' to "modulations" of whatever sort, he just went to wherever he wanted to go.

That didn't prevent him from writing some of the best music ever.

But even Brian Wilson, Beach Boys, knew that fundamental musical trick of modulating a half or whole step higher. Surfer music, taking it a step higher.

I know you've suffered,
But I don't want you to hide, It's cold and loveless, I won't let you be denied

Soothing, I'll make you feel pure, Trust me, You can be sure

I want to reconcile the violence in your heart I want to recognize your beauty is not just a mask, I want to exorcise the demons from your past, I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart

You trick your lovers, That you're wicked and divine, You may be a sinner, But your innocence is mine

Please me, Show me how it's done, Tease me, You are the one

I want to reconcile the violence in your heart, I want to recognize your beauty is not just a mask, I want to exorcise the demons from your past, I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart

Please me, Show me how it's done, Trust me, You are the one

I want to reconcile the violence in your heart, I want to recognize your beauty is not just a mask, I want to exorcise the demons from your past, I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart

Yea, I will drink in and always be full"

What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be fine fine fine
'cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five

Hand In My Pocket - Alanis Morissette

While everybody else is getting out of bed, I'm usually getting in it
I'm not in it to win it and there's a thousand ways you can skin it
My feet have been on the floor, flat like an idol singer
Remember winger, I digress, I confess you are the best thing in my life
But I'm afraid when I hear stories 'bout a husband and wife
There's no happy endings, no Henry Lee, but you are the greatest thing about me
If it's love
And we decide that it's forever, no one else could do it better
If it's love
And we're two birds of a feather then the rest is just whatever

There's just one thing
that's getting in the way
when we go up to bed
you're just no good
it's such a shame

Sometimes I wanna take you down.
Sometime I wanna get you low.
I brush your hair back from your eyes.
I take you down,
Let the river flow.
