Two Los Angeles departments have received $111 million in federal stimulus funds yet have created only 55 jobs so far, according to a pair of reports issued Thursday by City Controller Wendy Greuel. LA Times story here We are coming closer and closer to the day when we break out the tar and feathers.

And? Please point out what I am missing. The way I am reading the article is that the Departments still have the money. All of the projects have been using the standard bid process the Departments are obligated to follow. Were they just to award no bid contracts to Halliburton? Are they to just draw contractors names form a hat? They still have the money and the departments followed the bid process they are obligated to use. Isn't that being responsible?

That works out to $2 million per stimulus job. That kind of money could buy a lot of tar, and a lot of feathers.
