Puckerpup -> Profile Do's and Don'ts? (9/28/2010 12:30:42 AM)

Hey guys, I just updated my slowly growing blog on the do's and don't for online profiles and wanted to know what you guys thought?

http://www.tabooterminal.com/2010/09/10-tips-for-you-on-fetish-profile-sites.html

Cheers,
Pucker Pup

I think it's really good. Worth re-posting here.

Do you mind if I link to it in my journal?

By all means, link it any place you want.

It looked pretty good, but I question the assertion that you should message everyone who messages you-that bit makes you pretty obviously a bloke :P

I disagree about not putting pictures of your dog up. If you're a pet person, then you need someone who also is a pet person. Not someone who dislikes them. Plus it shows you have more interests than just getting a new flogger.

And remove the rant about people who don't answer random messages. Women don't answer because when we do say no thanks, we get vitriol in return. No response is a response, you not accepting that reads to us as a thinly veiled whine.

Can only agree to that and therefore disagree to the statement cats shouldn't be in a profile....My cat's were always on my profile (behind my main picture which is taken down now as I am not searching anyone at present) as sometimes pets do exclude a potential partnership due to the other person already having pets him-/herself or - like my first date - due to someone who has a cat fur allergy. It is helpful to let people know in advance what is part of your life and quite frankly I would not dump my cats for anyone as they were part of my life before a potential dom would be in there, so if I would ever have the question a dom or the cats it would always be the dom, as after all, you take on pets for life and not just for a season.

Also some dog breeds are known to tear cats apart, which would show again that they are very unlikely a match. My last date knew that if we would have worked out he would not have been able to take on a dog breed he used to have in the past as it would be a way too high risk for the cats to even dare it. He got a different breed at the end, which had nothing to do with me, but at least if he would ever be with a sub who has cats they would be safe.

Well done....I've already linked this thread to another for profile advice.

Now, about this issue you have with Margaret Atwood...........[;)]

As a general set of guidelines (not rules) for newbies, I'm down with it.

Funny thing, I had just deleted a note without reading it from the other side.  You can look at the photo before opening the email, and it was just a charming CLOSE UP shot ... an action shot, no less.  I admit to being something of a prude, and I therefore did not open it.  If that is your photo, I have no need to look at your email nor do I have a need to write you.  Personal preference.

best,
sunshine

excellent :) Now if someone would write something for those writing to others ;)

I had a great one the other day.

emailed me, simply said "bend over" I read through his profile, judging from his requests, it would not have been a good mesh. I was very polite and said thank you for witing, however I did not think I was what he was looking for :)

Follow up email "eat shit and die " ..... yeah!

Yeah, minus the "respond to everyone who writes you." You're obviously not a woman, OP, or you'd be saying, "don't get mad at people who don't respond to you" [;)] Do you have three hours a day to dedicate to CollarMe? Because I don't.

Puckerpup -> RE: Profile Do's and Don'ts? (9/28/2010 2:13:25 PM)

That does not mean that your response was the wrong thing for you to do, it just means the guy you responded to was stupid and rude.

I find it very fascinating, that of the 9 forums (4 intersex, 5 for gay men) that I posted that link on,  all were consistant, except collarme.com. Thats almost worthy of a blog post in itself.
