switch 2 please

You are staying out of bed till 6AM, or are you lying there trying to fall asleep? If the latter, do try and get up and do something besides lying there....

I suffered from insomnia for months. It stopped when I started taking a supplement called Passion 4 Life. I highly recommend it.

Make a long phone call to one of your most boring friends or get yourself a good book on physics and tell yourself that you have to learn and understand the entire book before morning [;)]

Awww switch,

I'm sorry to hear the insomnia is still with you. Do you suppose you should move, and go live on the other side of the world? (Just Kidding)

It's like your internal clock is really off!

Somebody suggested that instead of going to sleep at 6am, you just force yourself to stay awake until the next night. That's the way you beat jet lag. Have you tried staying awake for 36 hours? (Yeah, it sounds awful...)

I support the above idea.
Making yourself stay awake is more feasible than making yourself fall asleep.

I've actually fallen asleep twice while "talking" on the phone with a couple friends who have a way of rambling on and on and on and on.[:D]

I've been up since 3am (I got 4 hrs of sleep)...I get insomnia often. I've been putter around online and doing some packing in the kitchen. Coffee is brewing and I plan on staying awake. Sometimes, depending on the weather, I'll just get up, get out and go for a walk.

Good luck.

There have been many good suggestions so far, but since I have the same problem, I thought I would mention the things that help me.  My Master has no trouble sleeping whenever he wants, and his work schedule is so erratic that I cannot do one of the things that would help me the most with my insomnia - going to sleep and getting up at the same time every day.  If you can force yourself to get up at the same time every day, and stay up, it may help.  I have had to resort to Ambien to help me; I take it on the days that he goes to bed earlier than usual, so that I can get up with him.  I have also eliminated all caffeine, even 'decaf' beverages and chocolate [:(], since they actually have quite a bit of caffeine.  Sugar also makes me speedy, so I avoid it at night; whereas fatty, protein-rich and complex-carbohydrate foods help me get sleepy.  I used to eat a few Triscuits with cheese before bed.  I also have very low blood pressure, which is a mixed blessing.  It can make me very sleepy at any time during the day when it drops suddenly.  It's possible that lowering your salt intake, drinking more water, and exercising could have the similar effect of increasing your overall sleepiness - it's kind of a silly thought, but it's a health issue which has been on my mind recently.  You're not me, but maybe something I said clicked for you - I never know [:)].  Good luck!

another insomniac here lol

I found sometimes that certain foods before going to bed are more relaxing than others. I have no clue why. One thing that seems to work for me is if I eat something sweet but not too sweet before bed. Too sweet or not sweet and I start getting thirsty and then that keeps me up. I guess try different things and find out if anything works.

Ever try running a fan in the room. I don't know why but for some people it works. I use one. If its too quiet or there is something making noise that is too distracting or whatever that can keep me up.

This is kind of a weird one, but have you tried changing things around in the room? Like to make it feel more comfortable, when your laying in bed. Like if something is casting a shadow over you a certain way or the wall opposite of the bed is too empty or something. (just throwing stuff out there)
The only reason I suggest this is because I found that I can't sleep or if I do I toss and turn all night if I don't feel comfortable in the room Im in. Like if Im in a room that has too many light colors. I know its weird.

Thats all I got
I hope you find something that works. :)

You know, I'll bet there's something to this idea! A Feng Shui cure for insomnia. Seems like it would be worth a try--no drugs involved.

Success (kinda)!
Wednesday night I fell asleep around 12, woke at 2 and stayed up for a bit, then fell back asleep until 7...yay!
Last night I got to sleep at about 3. I fell asleep on the couch, so when B got up a couple hours later to start his day he carried me to bed and tucked me in. Awww...[:)]  I slept until about 9. I think my weird sleep cycle is regulating itself again, and I haven't really changed anything...

Last night I crashed at about 1, and woke up at 6. Hurray!

Congratulations.

May your nights be restful,
May your mornings be peaceful,
And your evenings, unimaginable.

(Someone help with the punctuation.[:)])
