Toppingfrmbottom -> Is it possible to have an allergy to the condom itself , not the material it's made out of? (10/10/2010 12:44:52 PM)

I was talking about sex with this one guy, and he asked me do Daddy and I use condoms when we have sex, and I said yes, not being on birthcontroll any more, the few times we do, it's absolutely required. He pipes up with, "well I am bare back only, I refuse to use condoms because I am allergic to them"

"I said have you tried lambskin"? He said, "it's not the material  I am allergic to it's the condom itself. They suffercate my skin and I break out in a rash"

Now I am not sure I particularly believe that, but what do you all think?

Could a penis skin be so sensitive that a sheath of any material regardless of what it is, make you break out in unpleasant rashes?

I am inclined to believe more that it's the material you're allergic to, like a latex allergy, for example, than just a condom all alone, because the fact it's a sheath that don't allow your penis skin to breath.

Oh I just thought of something else too, it could be pycho sematical, I think they call it? Where you can think yourself into having a physical problem with something because you dislike it so much?

LOL!

The idea that the skin "breathes" was a cute point in Goldfinger, but it's completely bogus.

The guy doesn't like condoms.

So if skin doesn't breathe, then how come socks an stuff it's all a buzz word breathability, and how come feet then get so hot and itchy in socks that don't"breath"?

hertz -> RE: Is it possible to have an allergy to the condom itself , not the material it's made out of? (10/10/2010 2:50:41 PM)

Actually, the guy might have a point. If he's been badly advised, and he's wearing a condom for 8 hours a day like some sort of penis-sock, then that would explain everything...

Someone needs to explain to him that in order to avoid unwanted pregnancy, he only needs to wear the condom for the act itself. It isn't necessary for him to wear a condom all day at work to protect his colleagues. Well, not unless he's especially virile. Actually, that's quite a scary thought. What sort of protection could you wear to protect you from especially virile men who can get you pregnant just by being in the same room as you? It would have to be rubber pants...

littlewonder -> RE: Is it possible to have an allergy to the condom itself , not the material it's made out of? (10/10/2010 2:56:32 PM)

I'd say it's the spermicide used on many condoms that he's allergic to then. If that's not that then he could have psoriasis but he'd have the rash with or without a condom. If it's none of that then I'd say he's using it as an excuse not to wear a condom.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Is it possible to have an allergy to the condom itself , not the material it's made out of? (10/10/2010 3:29:16 PM)

I think he is full of it   -  men wear "texas rigs" without rashes or problems - and they are basically large condoms connected to a drainage system. Sounds like a rather lame excuse to me. [8|]

The problem there is sweat... the breathable socks wick moisture away and keep your feet drier and may have a material like cool max to help with heat.

However, the guy doesn't like wearing condoms. He wouldn't be wearing the hypo-allergenic ones like Avanti long enough to cause skin suffication... The Avanti btw tends to fit much looser.

Also, the porosity of lambskin makes them ok to prevent pregnancy but the material they are made from is not aproved for disease prevention.

"Lambskin or sheepskin condoms will only protect against unplanned pregnancy, whereas latex and polyurethane condoms, if used properly, will protect against unplanned pregnancy and STDs, including HIV. (Note: it is still better to use a lambskin condom than to use nothing at all)."

It could be, I know more and more now, it's not recommended to use condoms with the nonoxonal 9 spermicide in it.

angelika, yes that's true about the lambskin. However if all you're worried about preventing is pregnancy, because you're with a partner you know is clean and good to go in not having ickies he can pass along, that's all ya need:)

I wonder if I'd like the lambskin condoms, I hate condoms, no matter lubricated, thin, ribbed for womens pleasure, ect they kill ALL sensation for me and therefor kill the fun.

Edited cause I typed alone, not along.

I didn't say it wasn't good to use condoms that have spermicide. I said it could be he's allergic to it. Spermicide is actually incredibly useful to the majority of people to help keep them from getting knocked up.

Of course you didn't/ But there's talk of spermicides, specially non oxinal 9 now being bad for women and so it IS being said it's not good to use. even if you didn't say it.

Maybe your Master is a secret agent?  We are trained to breathe through our penis.  You never know when that will come in handy.  We are also trained to be secretive, so you would have no idea he was one in the first place.  We just aren't allowed to tell.  So if he hates condoms because his penis can't breathe and you had no idea he was a secret agent, he probably is one.

Personally, I just don't like the smell of burning rubber.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Is it possible to have an allergy to the condom itself , not the material it's made out of? (10/11/2010 4:04:59 PM)

Master Steel, it's not my daddy  claiming an allergy to condoms it was some guy I was talking to. But I loved your secret agent reply.

WolfyMontgomery -> RE: Is it possible to have an allergy to the condom itself , not the material it's made out of? (10/11/2010 11:16:53 PM)

Lol... first thing that popped into my head was, "If your penis needs to 'breathe', then how can you have sex at all? Doesn't a pussy keep your dick from breathing too?"

Does he get rashes from sex too? =P

It sounds like he's just trying to have an excuse to refuse to wear condoms though, I hope he doesn't swing or have one-night stands, because if he does, he's got pretty damn big chances of being a walking STD, no more man, just the crap he gives you! I'd advise not having sex with him.

Edited to add: Maybe he holds his penis-breath during sex....

This really made me laugh.....great reply! I needed that.

Or maybe he's like the guys in that Jizz In My Pants song.

Yeah, I find it unlikely that condoms in general, used as directed, would cause a reaction. The material or something added to it (like lube or spermicide)? Sure. Extended use? Maybe.

he's not only an itchy-dick, he's a dumbass too. someone to avoid all contact with!

RumpusParable -> RE: Is it possible to have an allergy to the condom itself , not the material it's made out of? (10/13/2010 3:36:36 PM)

There are a few reasons this could be happening to a male... the lubricants used, the spermicides, the condom material, wearing the wrong sizes...

But (assuming he's not just plain bs'ing) if he's decided he just knows what's wrong and just knows how it's fixed, then there's no talking to him about it. Lots of folks get stuck in their conclusions like that, especially about health stuff (not to mention sex!), so even if he's being honest it may be impossible to get him to find what the exact issue is.

Can you not use the term clean? That is amazingly offensive to people with HIV. Just because someone has HIV doesn't mean they're dirty. A little sensitivity is helpful. Poz people are people too, and lead sexual lives as well.
