I'm a real estate broker in WA state. Right now the market is bottoming out, and seems to be building pressure towards a recovery. Interest rates and home prices are at record lows, and there could not be a better time to become an investor, landlord, or just a simple home owner. Rental rates are still high, so it's possible to buy a house out of foreclosure and rent it without much trouble. If you've ever wanted a house with a dungeon, many Seattle area homes have a full basement. I've seen home after home going on the market for 1/4 to 1/2 the assessed value, which means that when the market begins to tick upwards again you'll be poised for easy gains. Thanks to global warming, Seattle is now a comfortably warm place to live, and yet a half hour drive away from snow skiing. Fishing hunting and other outdoor activities in the state parks of the NorthWest are incredible. My friends have a group that bags at least one elk a year, and have filled their limit on some years. If you'd like to become a landlord or investor, now is probably the BEST chance you'll ever have to get started! We're ethical real estate agents with a purpose: We build community. I give back a portion of all my earnings to the North Shore School District, and to charities for children with special needs. In my view, this is one of the best places to live on the West Coast.
