alwayzron -> Frenulum piercing .... (9/29/2004 12:35:46 AM)

Has anyone ever pierced their own frenulum? I'm wanting it done, but can't see paying a ton of money just to have some stick a needle and ring into my penis.

Sooo .... what are the dangers? The benefits? Any tips on how to do it, or on aftercare?

What do you consider a 'ton of money' in this instance?

There aren't too many dangers with a frenum piercing. The main problems with doing it yourself would be improper placement (too shallow, crooked, off-center) and not having access to an autoclave to properly sterilize the instruments beforehand.

I'm a devout Do-It-Yourselfer, but I think this is one of the instances that I would happily pay a pro to do something for me. YMMV.

Stef,

Thanks for the pro-am perspective. I didn't think in terms of it being too shallow ... I would think having it rip out would be pretty messy. I'm too worried about it being off center or crooked. And I have frineds in the Dental industry, so the autoclave wouldn't be hard to arrange either.

I'm leaning toward going to a pro to have it done. But humor me ... how would you recomend I go about making it a DITY job?

alwayz, ron

I wouldn't [:)]

Having said that, the mechanics of the procedure are pretty simple. Mark the shaft midline, use that as a reference to mark entry and exit points, apply Pennington forceps, poke away!

First of all...depending on where you live, it really shouldn't cost that much to get pierced...less than $100 for sure...and think about it...it's your penis...do you really want to take a silly chance by self-piercing yourself? If you go ahead and do it to yourself, good luck...but whatever you do......................................DON'T SNEEZE!

Aftercare is critical with any piercing. In regard to the frenum piercing, when doing it yourself, is placement and the actual depth of the piercing. It has to be deep enough to support the gauge of barbel you want to wear. Will you be getting other piercings? A ladder? P.A.? Chains or rings? These are probably things you want to consider before you start poking holes. I absolutely recommend having it done professionally.

Yeah i'd have to agree. Really, with any percing something can go wrong, you don't really want something to go wrong with you penis now do you?? Just make sure everythings clean clean clean. And then keep it clean. Besides sometimes they can bleed like a mother and it's better to have someone there who's delt with that.

Don't. Period. There are too many things that can go wrong with a peircing. Even with an autoclave it's hard to gaurentee a sterile environment at home, and believe me, infections suck.

If you get it professionally done you will mostly avoid constant worry about it being right, done properly etc. Plus you won't have the fear of hitting a nerve and doing permanant damage.

Main Entry: fren·u·lum
Pronunciation: 'fren-y&-l&m
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural fren·u·la /-l&/
Etymology: New Latin, diminutive of Latin frenum
Date: circa 1706
1 : a connecting fold of membrane serving to support or restrain a part (as the tongue)
2 : a bristle or group of bristles on the front edge of the posterior wings of some lepidoptera that unites the wings by interlocking with the retinaculum of the forewings

The frenum or frenulum piercing is performed about 1/4 inch from the glans; it has been around a while. Queens of Pegu, Cambodia and Siam ordered circular devices called rowels to be attached to the ends of penis inserts to discourage men from engaging in sodomy and pederasty. The Sanskrit Kama Sutra recommends devices to stimulate the vagina during intercourse are attached to frenulum piercing. A Chinese example involves a collar made of horsehair bristles.

Basically what this poster is talking about is a piercing of the little 'arrowhead' shaped tag of skin on the bottom of the penis just behind the glans

(found a pic, but, as usual, coudnt get the frippin thing to upload - sorry)

Hope this helps

Helpful hint:

Even if you are having this done by a pro, mark the dots on your penis when you are flacid. See where the dots end up while erect. You may have to adjust the dots if the piercing ends up further down the shaft then you want.
For some, this makes a big difference.
