I have been given it prior to surgery to prevent nausea.

I have worked with people in home health and group home settings who were prescribed it.

In both my case and theirs, we did not experience the more nortorious bad side effects: Tardive Dyskinesia, Dystonia, Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome, or Drug Induced Parkinsonian symptoms.

I am sorry for your loved one's situation and hope they recover.

Thanks anjelika,
He has the drug induced Parkinson's and some eye issues. He was prescribed drug in Jan of 09. So he took it long term. he had been diagnosed with all kinds of weird things, sudden onset dimentia, etc, until another dr decided to take him off all meds for. 24 hrs.. and there was a dramtic, marked improvement. He has been totally incapacitated, in a matter of 2 weeks. not even eating.

I take it along with a large dose NSAID for migraines. No problems thus far,but I've only been using it a short time.

It is my hope that your doctor did go over the possibility of serious side effects with you.
They may be rare, but they are pretty devastating.

If not s/he was in my opinion, negligent.

As for migraines, for me, Topamax has stopped them.
I take it daily in a small dose as a preventative and I havn't been getting them at all except for one that was triggered by a sinus headache first.
