ORIGINAL: DomImus The folks I know who pay for their own insurance are seeing increases in their premiums so the effects of the bill are already being felt. The state’s major health insurers plan to raise premiums by about 10 percent next year, prompting many employers to reduce benefits and shift additional costs to workers. Increases will range from 7 to 12 percent, capping a decade of consecutive double-digit premium increases, according to a Globe survey of the state’s top health insurers. Actual rates for 2010 will depend on the size of the employer and the type of coverage, with small businesses and individuals expected to be hit hardest. Overall, premiums are more than twice as high as they were 10 years ago. http://www.boston.com/business/healthcare/articles/2009/09/16/health_insurers_plan_10_rise_in_rates/ And your excuse for them being twice as much as 10 years ago is, of course, because the helath care bill was being planned... oh wait... 10 years ago, there was no such plan. Never mind, lets forget the obvious and blame all this on Obama alone. I didn't blame Obama. Never mentioned him in my post in any way. Thank you so much for putting words in my mouth. This is exactly what is wrong with every bleeding heart like you in this forum. You cannot read what is written - you can only read "between the lines" to inject your own perspectives. I'd blame Pelosi if I had to lay the blame on one person. You are blaming the health care law... its now a law.. not a bill.. for the increase in premiums. Since Obama was the author, in a sense, of that bill, and definitely the prominent supporter, what i posted was not a stretch. NOR putting words into your mouth. Interesting to note you dont argue with the facts that premiums have been hiking for the past 10 years with no checks or balances in sight. But you still want to blame the HC Law for the increase. Tell me, were the insurance companies looking into their crystal balls to see the future? Or, perhaps, they were just allowed to get away with it for so long and everyone had those companies in the 401k plans, no one thought to object... Suddenly, he insurance companies start screaming that the new law will cost people more money, and, like good lil sheep, everyone decided to believe that lie.
