The folks I know who pay for their own insurance are seeing increases in their premiums so the effects of the bill are already being felt.

I pay my own insurance and it has doubled in the past five years, with no claims, so please spare me this bullshit.

The state’s major health insurers plan to raise premiums by about 10 percent next year, prompting many employers to reduce benefits and shift additional costs to workers.

Increases will range from 7 to 12 percent, capping a decade of consecutive double-digit premium increases, according to a Globe survey of the state’s top health insurers. Actual rates for 2010 will depend on the size of the employer and the type of coverage, with small businesses and individuals expected to be hit hardest. Overall, premiums are more than twice as high as they were 10 years ago.

And your excuse for them being twice as much as 10 years ago is, of course, because the helath care bill was being planned... oh wait... 10 years ago, there was no such plan. Never mind, lets forget the obvious and blame all this on Obama alone.

I didn't blame Obama. Never mentioned him in my post in any way. Thank you so much for putting words in my mouth. This is exactly what is wrong with every bleeding heart like you in this forum. You cannot read what is written - you can only read "between the lines" to inject your own perspectives.

I'd blame Pelosi if I had to lay the blame on one person.

In other words you are doing exactly what tazzy implied......blaming the increase on the Health Care Reform bill....which is,pardon my french, utter bullshit....these rates have been going up for years...hence the reform bill.
Now if you are going to accuse me of "putting words in your mouth" ....have at it.I don't give a shit either way...there is no other conclusion one can draw from your posts...unless Nancy Pelosi is on the board of your healt care insurance provider?

2007 Law Leads to First-Ever Review of Insurance Rate Increase

Oregon House Democrats said today that legislation passed last session helped pave the way for the first-ever regulatory review hearing on skyrocketing individual insurance rates for health care plans in Oregon.

Yesterday, a request for review was filed by an individual facing a 26% increase in insurance premiums from Regence. Now, according to DCBS, a hearing will be scheduled to determine if the rate increase is justified. Another Oregon insurance company, Lifewise, also recently raised rates 28% on individual policies.

Rate increases were going on before the health care bill was ever written. Imagine that. 26%.

My premiums have increased an average of 24% per annum. I've been forced to go from a $1000 deductible in 2002 to a $10K deductible currently. That's what the insurance industry and the cons call "consumer choice".

That rate of increase is unsustainable. I want Single Payer.

Many want a single payer... and THATS what the dissatisfaction is about.

We have this in Canada albeit a different version (for now). You won't like it no matter how it turns out. Some doctors (and nurses) who not long ago left Canada for the profitable medical market in the US, are now returning to Canada and that speaks volumes for what is on the horizon.

I worked with many of those Drs and nurses from Canada. Could it be they have left because the industry took a crash? The hey day of the hospital corporations such as HCA and such are over. Here, the biggest if UPMC, followed by Allegheny, both of which are downsizing. The local hospital closed it ER doors and opened them back up as an acute care center. Another is closing its cardiac unit and consolidating it with another.

Hospitals see the writing on the walls. The fat money ride is over.

You are blaming the health care law... its now a law.. not a bill.. for the increase in premiums. Since Obama was the author, in a sense, of that bill, and definitely the prominent supporter, what i posted was not a stretch. NOR putting words into your mouth. Interesting to note you dont argue with the facts that premiums have been hiking for the past 10 years with no checks or balances in sight. But you still want to blame the HC Law for the increase. Tell me, were the insurance companies looking into their crystal balls to see the future? Or, perhaps, they were just allowed to get away with it for so long and everyone had those companies in the 401k plans, no one thought to object... Suddenly, he insurance companies start screaming that the new law will cost people more money, and, like good lil sheep, everyone decided to believe that lie.
