JerseyKrissi72 -> Anyone Have A Clue? (11/11/2010 6:17:32 AM)

For the past month I have been in alot of pain- off/ on--mostly on on the right hip area..When it begin was when I had a pap-smear test done (I can't encourage enough that women get them done EVERY year[:)]) and the doc moved my right leg really fast and I suddenly felt a "pop" and it's hurt ever since. I had a hip x-ray which showed NO breaks or dislocation of any type but just some calcium deposits...I am taking 800 mg of Motrin every day for pain but can't live like that, I love those pain patches the hot and cold ones over the counter they relieve alot of pain..any ideas what could be wrong? Does arthritis last that long? If it were a muscle sprain or tendon injury would an X-ray show that necessarily? Thanks.

Depending on the size of the calcium deposits, you may need a steroid shot there.
What options did your doctor offer you after viewing the xray?

It could be as simple as a pinched nerve, and an x-ray wont show that. Its lasted a month, perhaps its time to see an orthopedic specialist for your problem.

Or a chiropractor first.

This is my first day of NO pain of any kind, didn't take a pain pill or anything...I walk generally 1-2 miles a day so I gave it a break...maybe I just need to take it easy a bit...I got stocked up on icy hot patches just in case lol

I will second the chiro suggestion.  Been going for my neck and have not felt this good in years.

I am going to look into a chiro- that may be the best option because I can't tolerate pain pills

It is a more total body approach to what ails you.  They can help retrain your hip to get well.  Plus adjustments release endorphins, so you always leave the chiro visit smiling.

Just a quick information break, it taked a MRI to see muscle and tendon damage. Hope you are healing well.

My next appointment is in January and today I have been pain free and feeling much better  without pain meds so I hope it's nothing serious, if it continues to hurt I will ask for a MRI but I will indeed look into a chiro...anything that doesn't require meds are fine by me
