This rather surprising topic has come up recently for me and, along with other resources, I am trying to learn as much as I can.  I was hoping this could be a thread detailing different branding techinques, what to expect during and after it, and appropriate aftercare, healing time, etc.  Whether you wish to answer here or on the flip side, I'd greatly appreciate it.  Thanks!

I'd be interested in hearing about this too.  I'm getting married next October, and Alpha is planning to brand me as a wedding gift. [sm=hearts.gif]  At the moment we're thinking that a cautery pen would be our best bet, but I'd be interested in hearing frm people who have actually done it.

i really hope you know the amount of pain you are willing to endure. some people say i would do anything in the world for you and then when told okay let me cut off your arms they say not that. not saying people should let their arms be cut off just saying know truelly in your heart your devotion level. not to mention the pen will be slow like a tattoo concieved from fire itself, if you are not ready for that i suggest a closer method to actual branding they can be made quite easily you just have to get creative. also keep it safe things like that can be harder to maintain properly without getting staff or other things the research can all be done quite fast. i love all levels of pain and im not a big fan of the slow brand , snd some places on the body are way more intense for this.

I used the search feature and could not find a thread I remember from ages ago. Someone showed pictures along the process of having a k for kajira on her thigh.

In order for the scar not to be a a formless blob, very thin bits of metal are heated and it's done in segments to keep good detail. It made the idea of being branded something other than what you see in the movies a la cattle drives.

Violet wand branding is relatively easy, allows for fine lines and control, and is fairly safe compared to other methods. It worked very well for me.

Is that a special piece for the violet wand or did you use something you already had?

I was strike branded with hot iron. It hurt but only briefly. It swelled up hard within hours and stayed that way for several weeks. within a day, it felt like someone had kicked me in the leg - repeatedly - with steel toed boots. Mine healed clean and a bit too well, to be honest, no matter the amount of abraiding I did.

It's something I would sincerely suggest to anyone, it was NOT a tramatic event - it was NOT the worst pain ever

Here is a link that also mentions using a cautery pen.

I had the honor of watching a strike brand and my understanding is that you had to redo it, esp if the sub was fair skin. It made for a beautiful ritual that happened at each contract, much like the vanilla recommitment marriage.

Honestly, the smell bothered me a lot more than the pain did.

FR

Such a thing has to be researched thoroughly.

I remember having seen pictures of a branding, perhaps the same as those in the above Kajira link.

Frankly, I am not enthusiastic about branding. What most concerns me is that it was reported that the skin shrinks away from the brand. It seems to me that there is a high risk of an ugly or failed brand, non-artistic.

Why blemish a fair skin?

A more aesthetic alternative seems to me to be a tattoo - of course by a thoroughly researched tattoo artist.

And of course a brand is a token. A collar, an ear-ring, a necklace, would serve just as well.

The true brand is in the mind of the slave or submissive, not on the skin.

LadyPact -> RE: Branding (5/11/2011 7:20:31 AM)

I know this is an old thread, but that's a fair question.

Why a brand, rather than a tattoo?

For Me, it boiled down to the intimacy of the act.  I don't have the ability to do the tattoo, Myself.  I'm not qualified.  I don't have the equipment.  I don't have the skill.  Even if I drew the thing up, it wouldn't be Me doing the actual mark.  Some other person would be the one applying the ink.  I didn't like that about it.

Branding was a good alternative.  The connection that I wanted was there.  While you are right that the real brand is in the mind, the brand on the skin was an outward extension of that.  The bonding experience was pretty awesome.

falccon -> RE: Branding (5/14/2011 7:23:32 PM)

branding is something i have thought about for a long time. i'd like a domme to brand me some day.
