Forgive and forget, a phrase I learned long ago, and try as a rule to practice it, but have recently brought it into question and am unsure of what it actually means and with that, is it possible beyond an ideal. The reason I ask if it is possible beyond an ideal, is because of memory and the inability to remove or let memory go, even if one is aware memory is hampering ones need to move on. So, I ask where does the phrase come from and is it a realistic idea, can we forgive and forget, can we move on, or is the past that important to us that we resist the future ? Take any world event, everything that happens is based on the past, so can anyone move on, can the world move on, or are we all stuck in the past ?
