Aneirin -> Where is God ? (12/6/2010 8:51:19 AM)

For the sake of seeking a label to define, I am not a believer in God,Yahweh or Allah in their holy scripture forms, yet I do believe in something I cannot describe that combines everything as an interpretation of and that which resides in the self and others and the enviroment at the same time, not pagan for feeling is there and not any of the god3 as they divide mankind not bring it together. Perhaps spiritual but not religious, that is me, but I will carefully hear and consider wise words where I may find them, wherever they are hidden in whatever ideology. Am I an atheist, agnostic, pagan or what all encompassing term, you now, just for the filling in forms thing ?

Anyway of the believers in the God3 as I call them, the different interpretations, God, Yahweh and Allah may I ask those who believe, quite simply where is the god you believe in, where does it reside ?

At the Taco Bell.

After you spend Friday night out drinking their is nothing more God-like than a double beef burrito.

He's asking a serious question. Let him be.

Let those he's asking respond.

I know. I saw.

Uhhhhhhhhh.................it wasn't meant to be a derailment, it was meant to be what I said it was..........a joke.

Except for the humorless among us who think this message board is equivalent to debating on the floor of the Senate.

For me, its a life force, existing within and without, I dont own it, i dont command it, it doesnt speak to me... it just is. It isnt good, it isnt evil, but it does teach. It doesnt love, it doesnt hate. It just exists.

Aneirin I think you and I are feeling the same God even if you don’t want to call him by a name. I will not waste anyone’s time trying to describe my feeling or its source.

Just as some people can paint or sing and some can‘t… run and jump and some can‘t…some, actually most, feel the spiritual world around them where some can’t or refuse to. Those that can know there is more than feeling, seeing, tasting, and measuring.

These feelings do lead most people to religion to try and understand or to find the meaning and reason for the spirit you and I know exists in our souls.

Butch, don't take this as insulting because it is an honest question.

You talk about your feelings, but don't you think that is the reason you believe?  Because you need to?

I think he is in prison. Seems that everyone that goes to prison finds him.

Moonhead -> RE: Where is God ? (12/6/2010 9:45:01 AM)

Bear in mind that you're asking this on a fetish dating website: all the female subs are going to say "Daddy/Master/Tarl/other is God", and I don't even want to speculate about what the femdom subs are going to come out with...

Apart from good ol' Charlie Manson: he found a mobile phone, not God.
(Maybe it was God's phone?)

Maybe, I have tried the religion route and found it dead at best and full of human frailties at worst. The same spectrum of people seem to inhabit any 'club' just like society itself.

But I have a feeling the destiny of mankind is to unite in the same belief and what we all seek is in fact scattered far and wide amongst the world's beliefs, our job is to recognise the truth that is there wherever it is and by it bring people together with the nature that we are, not seperate from it so we can use it greedily for ourselves.

I am thinking the rise of heathen belief and the save the planet mentality is part of the puzzle that is coming together.

Are we animals in nature or are we gods above nature.

sorry, poor joke in the light of this thread. my appologies.

Moonhead -> RE: Where is God ? (12/6/2010 9:53:50 AM)

I stand corrected.
(That was a pretty cheap shot, I have to admit: most of the Goreans I've spoken to are atheists. Couldn't resist bending the truth a bit for a joke, though...)

WyckedIndulgence -> RE: Where is God ? (12/6/2010 10:11:11 AM)

Moonhead, that's easy... We are Goddess not God and don't pretend to be!

On a more serious note, I am not a believer simply because a book says it's so. The bible leaves far too many open ended questions to provide any concrete evidence that God, as the book defines him, even exists. It speaks of Jesus as man yet what/who/is this God?

Having grown up attending various houses of worship of just as many denominations, religion and the many beliefs contained therein were confusing and left far too many questions unanswered for me to have faith in a particular entity.

I personally believe God is faith and is what allows those who have it to face death without fear and hope of an everafter in a better place. I believe ashes to ashes, dust to dust...

YMMV

allthatjaz -> RE: Where is God ? (12/6/2010 10:14:09 AM)

I think when Jesus said, 'God is within you all' he meant it in the same way that we understand Noetic Science (Greek word meaning 'Inner Wisdom') today. I'm like yourself. I'm not religious but I do believe in religions, I just feel they have been misinterpreted. My beliefs/spiritual side is about inner understanding. Its about conscious and the power of subconscious such as intuition.
Edgar Mitchell (Apollo 14 astronaut) is famous for speaking about his experience whilst in space, “The presence of divinity became almost palpable, and I knew that life in the universe was not just an accident based on random processes. . . .The knowledge came to me directly.”

Moonhead -> RE: Where is God ? (12/6/2010 10:23:34 AM)

The Mitchell quote is a beautiful line, and justly famous. I have noted that the people who dwell on that one seem less keen to discuss the appallingly high record of nervous breakdowns and other mental problems among Apollo veterans, though.
(Which I hope doesn't sound like a cheap shot. Everybody is entitled to their own beliefs.)
