Up until recently I tended to use Wikipedia for up to date reliable information but perhaps this site isn't quite as reliable as I have been led to believe.
I happen to know someone who is quite well known in the music world and he was telling me that someone has put a profile up on Wikipedea and when he went to look, it contained some errors. He subscribed himself as an editor to correct the details, made the appropriate corrections and was shocked to find that a few hours later, the errors had returned and his account had been suspended, claiming he had vandalized the page. To date the errors are still there!

LOL, well, you know anybody can write something there, because somebody creates a page there isn't a guarantee what they are putting up is true.

that is the major issue with wiki, anyone can change it, however if you use the citations and links you an usuallly find the "truth"
I only use it as a "rough guide" if you point out inconsistencies it can be put right.

Wiki is as dependable as the people making the entry. Sometimes it's good others not so much.

I've edited wiki and suspension of an account never occurs after a single edit. Find out his user name and you can easily enough search wiki for that user and find out precisely why he was suspended.

To correct a page on Wikipedia that contains personal information, you can send validation that you are the one referred to and they will include your corrections.

The "subject matter expert" will get top dibs on page content unless you prove you are a better expert.

Thanks everyone, I will pass on the advice.

In the past I have found several errors. However, they have professional editors now who will oversee and check info. I suggest he contacts the site and offers proof of his corrections.
