Those are good point's Hausboy.Pinellas County in particular, has a very large senior citizen population here.Plus this area does get alot of extra money through tourism,so that probaly help's too.The county here has it set up that anyone who dosen't get Medicaid/Medicare and make under $900 a month, can qualify for the county program.I know this because yes,I am on the county plan.I really can't complain. If I need to see a doctor,I can. They have me go through lab test's,regular physical's and if needed, more in depth treatment should something arise.I only use it if I truly need to see a doctor. There are also alot of private charity's here as well.Pinellas county has felt the sting of the economy as well.I guess the Health Department figured they could help taxpayer's actually save money by providing primary healthcare instead of having people run to the ER.We all know how the ER work's.It's usually low income people, who can't afford massive bill's and usually, the taxpayer's are stuck with the bill anyway's.So,if I get hurt,I don't need to go to the ER.I just go down to my local Health Department and get checked there.Make's sense to me.It clearly has helped this county actually save money.
