As many of you may know I have been spending some time in the west coast recently and I was thinking of perhaps having a gathering out here. I know its been mentioned before but never seemed to generate too much discussion. I have a few ideas on how to organize these gatherings (both large and small ones) and I was wondering if anyone local to the Bay Area wanted to chat on helping me put something together. I would especially love to speak with anyone who has any experience in organizing large events.

Please PM me on the site if you are interested.

ModOne -
Can't help you in the Bay area, but can help you in LA if that interests you.

I've done it all, however like Merc I can only offer you so cal events. Merc is coming to my munch this coming Saturday. Some have said in the past its worth the trip down to So Cal. Then again thats all relative per the person saying it.

Urf. I'm in the bay area but have absolutely no experience. If you need someone for scut work, I'd love to help out, but I've been out of touch for nearly a decade and totally lack organizational skills (or at least I have never been called upon to manifest any).

I can help out with the California Central Valley - there's a good BDSM group here.

I'm not sure whether or not we could get enough people to require a lot of organizational skills, but I could come up with a venue in the North Bay for up to a few hundred people, where pervs are welcome and restrictions would be minimal. It would probably be too expensive for just a few of us, though. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars here which are reasonably kink friendly, as long as nobody got too carried away.

We'd be delighted to attend, if something can be worked out.

I can absolutely help out and organize much of it.

In the Bay area, the right place to have such a party would be at the SF Citadel (www.sfcitadel.com).

The Citadel has open party nights for $10/head on Fridays, Saturdays are often $20. Alternatively, we could rent the whole place out for an evening and limit it to people who represent that they are from Collarme.com. The financials of this would need to be worked out between the organizers (who may or may not take a monetary risk if it's a closed party) and the Citadel (who needs to generate enough money on any given night.)

Either way, this is totally doable. If the CollarMe crowd want to make it exclusive, then we will need volunteers for running the door downstairs, the cashier/sign-in desk, DM's, and setup and cleanup crews. This can sometimes be a fair number of people.

I think a better alternative would be to take a look at the calendar at www.soj.org (which I manage btw) and pick a date where the citadel is already planning on having an open play night. Simply choose that night to have a big CollarMe get together. If we do this it would be good to talk to the Citadel folks in advnace just to make sure things are worked out, but I can certainly do that.

feel free to write to me directly if you want more discussion or help in making this happen. I think it would be fun!

Steve.

Hi sweetie, I see you did, indeed, find collarme.com :-)

(for the rest of you out there, I've known Torque about 7 years and we have lots of history... most of it good (LOL))

When we did this in NY, I just posted an event to the events forum. We picked a place for dinner & a dungeon. We asked for RSVPs for dinner but otherwise it was "just show up". We got more attention I think because my "co-host" at the events has a great ass (hi honey) and one Moderator "fixed" the event to always stay at the top of the list until it occured. ModOne, I'm guesing you can do that...

I'd start with this simple model, see how many show up, and then consider trying something larger.

(who was at the Citadel way too late Saturday night)
