Al I gotta say is after all the bread baking talk I am absolutely definitely going to build the outdoor, wood fired, clay oven I've been thinking about building this next spring. Sourdough bread baked in one of those........heaven.

After all these semi complex recipes. I decided to keep it simple for breakfast.

1 tenderloin steak rare with coarsly cracked pepper n sea salt rub.

2 eggs over medium

2 slices wheat toast.

yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

*fast reply, only read the subject question, nothing else*

It takes quite a lot to impress me for a man to cook. I do not count the average man's fallback of spaghetti as "cooking." Nor do I count breakfast foods as "cooking."

I taught my ex-husband how to cook his native country's food, which cannot be simplified in any way, shape or form. It takes a long time to soften lentils, scrape coconut from the husk into bowl, etc., so it's very labor intensive. He can now make all those things like curried chicken, beef, curried lentils, biriyani, naan, and all the other stuff from scratch. Considering he grew up with cooks, etc., this is impressive.

DB is also an amazing cook. He learned from several brilliant women in his family. He creates his own sauces, marinades, brines the Thanksgiving turkey, makes a steak that is so good, you want to cry just by eating it. Oh and bread! *swoons* He makes delicious breads.

When my mom was alive, she used to love it when DB came over and cooked because it was always something new and delicious.

So, I don't know if this is the way that other folks have answered, but it takes a hell of a lot of cooking to impress me. Spaghetti and/or poached eggs don't even get an honorable mention in my book.

*typo*

What would impress me the most is looking in my fridge and cupboards and creating a tasty meal with what is on hand.

This brought back a memory....I met my first ex in a bar.  They made these teryaki (spelling?) beef sticks that were wonderful.  On our first date,  he brought me a bouquet of those beef sticks wrapped up in tissue paper instead of a bouquet of flowers....most impressive to me!

That's so cool :)

Mind you, I can think of a few girls who would take offence ... "are you saying I prefer food to flowers?! Does my bum look big in this?" :)

Thanks Red and Rapier!
I never take offense to food...you would never see me order just a house salad on a dinner date.  lol.  We all know where poundage comes from, so why be negative about it?  And if someone bought me a treadmill I would love the fact that they know I love food and care enough to want me to healthy.
Ummm, but,  do treadmills come with trays?  lol.

Wow, this has turned into a food porn thread from the guys...yum.

As I said, reading about how men like to cook is just hot as it indicates a selective appetite.

I mean, don't you hate when someone will just eat anything?

FR :)

All I need a man to know how to create food-wise is an OpenTable account - and the only recipe he needs to follow is pointing and clicking reservations at any number of awesome fine restaurants here in Austin.

Oh, and if the recipe includes plane tickets to Manhattan and dinner at either Le Bernardin or Quality Meats, he has me for life.

Waggles rear end

Not sure if I've ever told you these stories, Steven.

The first time I spent the night, he made pancakes, which are My favorite.

Take any relatively firm fruit and slice it very thin.

A very sharp knife helps with this. Feel free to pull it out of the toybag :D

Heh.

Dont tell anyone I told you this, but:

The only real reason I follow Wolf Hudson on twitter is that he talks a lot about what he's eating. Fuck all this having sex, I want to hear about Dominican rice! :D
