I want to know if anyone else is familiar with a (supposed) practice I was told about. If you're a gay couple and you want to show that you are a couple in a discreet way, do any of you wear rings on your right hand? Possibly matching? I have a relative who is gay and in a long term relationship. I noticed that both he and his partner wore a ring on their left ring finger. Unfortunately he lives very far away from me and I only see him on rare occassions. He's not ashamed about his lifestyle, but he doesn't talk much about it either. I've never had the opportunity to ask him if there was any signifcance to the rings they wore or not. I have a bet with my sub on this.

Okay. This ended up tying into another thread that has been running. Someone sent me a message off site because he's seen too many people "attacked" when they put an answer out there that they're not absolutely positive about. I would tend to agree with him unfortunately.
Once I got his answer, it was easier to find what I was looking for on the web. Try going to this link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080213080825AARdZkG and it will give you a pretty good idea. I hope the moderator allows the link.

All of my gay married friends wear a wedding band of some sort on the third finger of their left hand.

Not challenging that particular answer, but wanted you to know that there are few sources less reputable than Yahoo Answers.

ETA some hysterically funny examples of YA silliness.

Here's some more interesting information on the subject: http://gaymarriage.lifetips.com/cat/64294/gay-lesbian-wedding-bands/index.html
I found this link using dogpile. I've been able to find gay wedding bands for sale with just about any search engine I use. They simply didn't specify how to wear them. In the end it's up to the individual just like anything else of course, but I was curious if there was any "traditional" way to wear them like there is for heterosexual marriages.

The people I know in a committed relationship wear rings/wedding rings on their left hand, third finger. The only committed couples that I know, that wear their wedding rings on their right hand, third finger are relatives living in Europe.
