When I read the title of this thread, I said to myself, that has to be in Northern Virginia, and sure enough.......and there was all of a half-inch of snow on the ground at best.

Cars drive close together.  I can understand how it becomes a line of dominos.  Even if 99 people do it right- if one mis steps- it all crashes down.

I thought it might be in Arkansas   - - - we really don't know how to drive on snow and ice here. It makes for some ...... interesting driving.

Drive ? The hell you say. I'm too busy on the cellphone, looking at a map and texting my honey. I also have to get dressed, put on some roughe(sp) and adjust the stereo.

Well, with two major blizzards and other smaller snowfalls just last year alone, folks have had practice here. We're not that far south, it's freaking cold and windy here today, and it snows regularly every year. No, in Northern Virginia, folks are too busy cell phoning and texting while they're driving, trying to get in front of someone else instead of easing in behind them, keeping others from getting in front of them, and getting to where they're going as fast as they can, no matter what the road conditions. It's not a matter of practicing, just guaranteed that, even though they see some snow on the roads, many folks are not putting down the cell phones, not slowing down, and are not taking any additional precautions.

Trust me, I live here and I drive in the rude, crazy traffic every day.

Um, I would go so far as to say many Arkansans "really don't know how to drive" period. I have lived here around LR for nearly 3.5 years now and have never seen such careless, selfish driving on a daily basis. Just yesterday, Master and I were leaving a movie theater heading to dinner. We were stopped at a red light. A vehicle came racing up behind us in the right hand land (we were in the left lane) and ran straight through not only that light but a second red light on up from the first one. Never slowed down, didn't have an ounce of concern for anyone else around just friggin' ran 2 red lights at full speed! That doesn't count the cars I see everyday driving in dark with only parking lights, the apparent total ignorance of what a turn signal is, and the just flat-out rude whipping in and out of traffic 'cuz they're in a hurry and more important than thou. I've lived in a lot of places but have never seen such a concentration of driving fools.

This afternoon, they're calling for 2-4 inches of snow here around LR. I wouldn't go out amongst those idiots for all the tea in China. They're dangerous in perfect conditions on dry roads let alone snow.........luci

You mentioned a turn signal ? Is that the proverbial "blinker" ?

I thought I was the only one who had such an advanced feature.

Hey, you know what that little lever on the bottom of the rear view mirror does ? It..............

Nevermind.
