John Warren, author of "The Loving Dominant", was there. Interestingly, he was also at the last munch I attended, 10 years ago in Massachusetts.
The guest speaker was Nancy Ava Miller, author of "Pervert". From Amazon: "while graphic on occasion, this book is an honest, open, and explicit accounting of both her own experiences in the BDSM community as well as a bit of a historical accounting of the community/lifestyle. The reader is treated to personal narrative, poetry, humor, passion, obsession, and absolute intimacy within its pages."
Nancy talked a bit about the BDSM community back in the 70's and having meetings at a church until the church sent spies to infiltrate them at what happened to be a fisting discussion if not demo (I was in the back of the room and couldn't hear very well, but from her hand gestures and the laughter, believe it was a demo.)
Ally and Serena, the South Florida Munch organizers, came over and were very welcoming and friendly.
Ms. Rae of WOLF (Women of Leather Florida) came over and told me about this women's group, which meets the 4th Saturday of the month, and there will be ponies at this month's meeting. I'm trying to get Kimberley to come with me but she is scared of Ms. Rae :) who I'd met previously at LAC's Fetish School over Fetish Factory's Memorial Day weekend.
Any South Florida women on here interested in coming with me / have been to WOLF?
I also learned about a book group the 4th Wednesday of the month in Oakland Park.
Several other people came over and said hello. I had dragged Robert and Kimberley with me, but in retrospect, could have gone by myself, everyone was so welcoming :)
I'm excited about WOLF, and glad to be making tentative steps into the local community. Thanks LadyPact and others who emphasize this repeatedly!
