Dumb and dumber.

So she is busy texting on her phone and falls into a mall fountain.

Now she is going to sue the mall because someone taped her stupidity.

rml,
What this is going to come to is do the employees of the mall have the right to take the security footage and do what they wish with it?

If someone had recorded this on their cell phone and posted it on you tube then too bad for her.  As their boss I would have a dim view of my workers just skimming through the footage and posting whatever they wished.

Missokyst -> RE: Inadvertent viral-video star may sue mall (1/20/2011 12:12:13 PM)

yeah. When I first heard of it I thought what a crap load that someone can do something stupid, have it video taped on a cell and then try to sue the big bucks buddy, the mall. But this is definitely mall security footage. Who ever posted it to youtube should be canned, and that mall owner is going to pony up the bill for this lawsuit. What's next? Posting badly fitting items and people picking their noses?

FullCircle -> RE: Inadvertent viral-video star may sue mall (1/20/2011 1:13:01 PM)

No one would know who it was if not for the TV interview. I don't know why they stopped putting holes in the floor with spikes at the bottom. Shopping malls used to be fun but now all they have is poxy fountains.

MsLadySue -> RE: Inadvertent viral-video star may sue mall (1/20/2011 1:43:42 PM)

It's wrong that staff leaked the video tape but it's impossible to tell the identity of the person who fell into the fountain.
Looks to me like she's trying to make a big buck out of nothing. If she'd not come forward to the media, no one
would be any the wiser as to her identity.

I hope the staff at the mall get a slap on the wrist or fired for leaking the video. Hopefully a judge will throw her case
out of court as the tape did nothing to identify her.

ricken -> RE: Inadvertent viral-video star may sue mall (1/20/2011 1:49:11 PM)

Yeah, I'm kinda torn, I mean she IS an idiot that can't walk and chew gum....uh, I mean text at the same time. If she is so stupid she can't stand still and text then so what.
The security tape shouldn't have been released, BUT the right to privacy is not a guarentee in this country, she knew she was being taped. It is usually posted in malls and other places that cameras are in use. And the tape WAS not directly released it was recorded from a monitor to a cell phone and could have been done by any mall employee, not a security person.
I heard her interview and her biggest complaint was "no one helped her" WTF should a mall employee have been walking in front of her like a guide dog and tell her when to turn or stop to protect her from her own stupid actions? Now I'm sure mall cops will have more shit to do to babysit these idiots.
Her important text " a friend FROM CHURCH aksed me about my & my husbands birthdates" she made sure to say from church...

The sad thing is people like her are allowed to breed and raise the offspring to be even stupider....George Carlin was right.

"Only in America" :)

PS: I do get the privacy thing, but FFS. It's just a pity she didn't drown ... it's time to trim the fucking herd :)

She also said she could have been an old lady but old ladies aren't that stupid and they mostly don't text due to arthritis.

servantforuse -> RE: Inadvertent viral-video star may sue mall (1/20/2011 2:08:50 PM)

No one helped her ? She jumped out of that pond so fast no one had time to help her. At least she wasn't driving a car.

Well, with her level of stupidity she will might not make it to "old".

Also there are definitely worst fountains to fall in. I know of some that are 25% urine and 25% liquidised pigeon crap.

Could she even prove in a court of law that she is the woman on the video? How do we know she is? What a stupid ass. If she thinks she was embarrassed by the video wait until this topic hits all of the internet forums like this one.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: Inadvertent viral-video star may sue mall (1/20/2011 3:22:25 PM)

If she had said "Even though I am an idiot and did this all to my self,  I am suing because they had no right to release this video, and I want the persons responsible to be punished", I would be on her side 100%.

But all this "the fountain coulda been empty, no one cared for my safety and helped me, I could be in the hospital" bullshit, I was laughing too hard by the end to feel any sympathy for her at all.

Whatta maroon..........

soul2share -> RE: Inadvertent viral-video star may sue mall (1/20/2011 4:12:22 PM)

meh...I don't see what the big deal is......if it had been someone else on the video, the woman would be laughing her ass off just as much.  It will be interesting to see what her pride is worth, though.  I'm sorry, but I don't even see the big deal about the tape getting posted on the 'net.  It's really not any different than police departments who give their funny, wierd and strange videos to those reality programs.

Just one more silly lawsuit going thru the already taxed system......[8|]

I think the first question is why anyone should be under surveillance while in a mall.

servantforuse -> RE: Inadvertent viral-video star may sue mall (1/20/2011 5:54:16 PM)

It is a deterrant to crime. You are on camera every day almost from the time you leave your home every morning.

You are comfortable with that?

poise -> RE: Inadvertent viral-video star may sue mall (1/20/2011 8:37:39 PM)

Of course she wants to sue. Look at all the charges she is facing. [:-]

** Update from MSNBC**

In the hours that followed Cathy Cruz Marrero's appearance on 'Good Morning America' today to talk
about the fall and its aftermath, she was in court for a status hearing on charges of five felony counts,
including theft by deception and receiving stolen property," reports ABC News.

Turns out Marrero's been out on $7,500 bail since 2009, after being charged with running up more
than $5,000 in purchases on a co-worker's credit card. No wonder she had a lawyer handy.

Marrero's next court date is April 21, and she's facing about six months of house arrest and electronic
monitoring, according to the Reading Eagle. So all y'all talking about how if she just shut up and went on
with her life, nobody would know it was her in the fountain —maybe six people recognized her — are more
right than you realized. While it's unknown how many people knew about her theft charges, we all sure know
about it now.
