LadyH,
Yunno....by some strange coincidence that drive was to the Detriot area. We spent the afternoon shopping in 2nd hand stores. The lady had an affinity for the old style cigarette holders as well as some other things. You sure we haven't met???

And yes, for you, I will meet you for lunch. But it will have to wait until early Feb. Still recovering from knee sugery.

Holy moly I love thrifting! But no, it wasn't me, sadly...

Since clip already put one up, I'll mention some others.

Yes, mm, the guys who go out of their way to do long drives just to meet at the munch I'm attending do count!  There have been a few of those.

One who drove several hours in the rain (after dark) because I was in the mood for a certain something.

Just a couple of months ago, one of the guys at My local munch group had baked a carrot cake for the snack table for the play party that would be held the following night.  I mentioned that I'm not terribly fond of carrot cake, so he went to the trouble of making something chocolate in My honor.  (I actually missed it due to My son coming in from out of town.  He still has a pic on his fet profile of him holding the cake that he made for Me.)

I'll never forget the gentleman (he's on this site, btw) who more or less put himself into My service when I did one of the demos that was held at 1763.  This person didn't allow Me to lift a finger for set up or getting everything back to the car.  In addition, he made sure that I wasn't making the trip back without ensuring that I had a wonderful meal with him and some others for company.  Yes, he absolutely did pay the check.

I was in Montreal over the weekend spending some time with a submissive I met through collarme. He visited a local bakery on the way to my hotel to meet me for the day, and wanted to bring me a desert for later. Because he wasn't sure which flavor of a certain favorite pastry of mine, he brought three to make sure he was covered. I thought that extended gesture was particularly charming, when he could have just as easily guessed and got it wrong and would have been no worse for wear (it's the thought that counts, after all), or called me up and asked which one (which also would have been sweet, but he figured it easier to just get three and surprise me).

ThePeripatetic,

Thanks for your response and for the thread.  Just thought I should clarify... in case there was concern... my response wasn't meant as criticism or venting.  Rather, it just seemed appropriate to note kindness goes both ways.  I've had people of all genders and of many leanings (vanilla, owner, dominant, switch, submissive, slave, etc.) do very kind things and I've also initiated and/or reciprocated.  For me, in pretty much any interaction (and I'll underline this applies in my BDSM interactions), the personage of those involved comes first and the BDSM flows from that.

ElanSubdued...

I couldn't agree more!

Kind of interesting: your comments got me thinking. I definitely do serve others or do kind acts outside of BDSM. However, I find that my "service mindset" is much more focused when I'm in a D/s dynamic (me being the s). It's not that I'm a completely selfish person in my daily vanilla life (I'm actually quite passionate about volunteerism in developing countries). But when I'm submitting I'm more driven to serve and look for creative opportunities for kind acts than I would in my regular day-to-day.

I realize I should bring that service attitude to the table as much as possible in and out of BDSM but the sad fact is I don't.
