ORIGINAL: Toppingfrmbottom I walked dogs at the SPCA before and it was fun I have some fond memories of the big Dalmatian type dog, I think who was still really young they named him max amillion or something like that and he was so funny. If I wore a V neck shirt and was hot an sweaty he'd always try to put his head down my shirt and lick my sweaty skin, I learned very quickly not to sit down in the cage with that boy* sometimes after walks and before going home I'd sit in the cage with them*. less you wanna be trampled an jumped on and nearly licked to death lol. Then there was this tiny little poodle, who was a lap dog if you sat down in his reach he'd hop in your lap for a cuddle. I actually thought about fostering him, but he was adopted very quickly. If dogs were not your thing, you could work in the Kittery, ,there were always kitties that needed holding an talking to and socialization with people, and some of the really lil lil ones, they needed hand fed. That was always really special. Bingo ! You really should think about going back to that when your mobility has improved.. Having followed many of your posts, your love for the critters shows thru. Like WD said: those poor little souls need some one like you. I can *see * the smile on your face as you were remembering working at the shelter. I don't know about your local SPCA, but the local shelters I work with have fund raisers a few times a year. That too is a great way to meet people and/or just get out of the house and do something positive. By that I mean something that will make you feel good and be involved in giving something back. I dunno about the finding friends online. Nothing wrong with it, but I think it might be harder than being out and about interacting with people. Think about not limiting your friend search to people who are involved in BDSM, simply cuz you are severely limiting your choices. Besides there are lots and lots of very nice people out there in the vanilla world. I don't think I am alone when I say I have more vanilla friends than lifestyle friends. When you widen the pool you are fishing in, you are likely to get more bites. Just a thought. No reason you can't do online and real life searches. As they say, if what you are doing isn't working, maybe you need to change it up a little. Good luck at OA and going to the gym. Go slow, don't overdue it and burn yourself out. One thing .... I know at most of the 12 step programs they do say the Serenity Prayer. I don't know about OA, but my guess would be theyemploy it in their meetings also. It's short, it's harmless and it is full of wisdom, once you really understand it and live it. Since you don't believe in any diety.... just pass over the " God Grant me " part. The rest is pretty wise advice. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. mbmbn
