Theyve been in the news as the lead opposition group in the Egyptian riots - but who are they, and what do the want? According to the book Jihad is the Way, the last of a five-volume work, The Laws of Da’wa by Mustafa Mashhur, who headed the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt from 1996-2002  the Muslim Brotherhood is an organization which is working towards global Jihad.

Excerpts from said book, as translated and posted in a current Jeruselem Post article on the subject:

quote:

“The Islamic ummah,” it says, referring to the supranational community of Muslims, “can regain its power and be liberated and assume its rightful position which was intended by Allah, as the most exalted nation among men, as the leaders of humanity.”

Elsewhere, it exhorts Muslims, “Know your status, and believe firmly that you are the masters of the world, even if your enemies desire your degradation.”

This sounds a lot like Nazism to me. Does it to you?

quote:

The problems of the Islamic world – such as in Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, Eritrea or the Philippines – are not issues of territories and nations, but of faith and religion.

They are the problems of Islam and all Muslims, and their resolution cannot be negotiated and bargained by recognizing the enemy’s right to the Islamic land he stole, and therefore there is no other option but jihad for Allah, and this is why jihad is the way.

So after they "liberate" Palestine, its on to Afghanistan, the Philippines, and so on.

Not really, no. People calling for a jihad tend to be semitic muslims, rather than Nazis.

Besides claims by Beck and co. at FauxNews who is reporting that the demonstrations are being led by the Muslim Brotherhood? By all accounts by real journalists the real leaders of the demonstrations are young secular Egyptians.

I'd be more afraid of U.S.' The Family and their thirst for global Christianity by conquest.

The same idea, only these fanatics have real cash and real power.

this was always on the cards - protests force the govt out, then other groups scamper in to fill the void - anyone thinking that these protests would to "more freedom" haven't read the script

but on the other hand, large sections of Palestine ARE "occupied" and should, therefore, be "liberated"

go get 'em, lads! knock yourselves out...

If Mubarak is toppled and the Bros get in (probable), it will usher in a new era of conflict in the middle East. It will probably come in through the back door via Gaza first as Egypt did with the Fedayeen form the 1950's until Israel took the territory in 1967. It hasn't been reported much but in Tunisia the tiny Jewish population (biggest outside of Israel in the Arab world) has started to flee as extremists are gaining power. Anti-Semitism is a defining characteristic of the conflict in Egypt with Mubarak saying Mossad/Israel are behind the demonstrations whilst the demonstrators are saying the opposite. What is clear is that the situation will get worse if Mubarak is toppled. Here is a lengthy overview with a few other facts never reported in the oh so sympathetic western media: http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Columnists/Article.aspx?id=206685

The Jerusalem Post is a respected publication. It is fairly pro-Israel but features plenty of stories that are also critical. If they quote directly from a Muslim Bortherhood text, it can't simply be dimissed.

This is nonsense right from the start.

I know Fox News has been continually harping about the Muslim Brotherhood and the potential for them taking over Egypt, but it is not and has never been the case.

The Muslim Brotherhood jumped on the bandwagon late and they are largely dismissed by the majority of Egyptian protesters.

Time to change the channel to a real news network.

Yes, it is about Fox when they continually spread misinformation based on a political agenda.

Every major news organization worldwide has reported the Muslim Brotherhood as playing only a minor part in the Egyptian uprising.

Except for Fox, which continues to convince people like you and Sanity that the Brotherhood is the driving force behind it to boost their ratings by pandering to their already paranoid, Islamophobic audience.

Corporate media spreads the corporate line.

Is that any shock?

No one pays mind to it anymore.   They are a relic of the past.  Anything corporate is on its way out.

Not a surprise, given the MB's collaboration with Hitler.

Was he more or less collaborative than the Catholic Church.  Knowing that this movement was straight out of the Sieg Heil comics, why did Ronnie Reagan train them as al-Queda?

I am thinking we missed one of Mr. Reagans top 10 accomplishments.

I think we need to examine Sharia law- before we ballyhoo and celebrate its arrival.
